Bernat® Mosaic (100 g /3.5 oz; 191 m/209 yds)
	44609 Optimistic 1 ball
Size 5 mm (U.S. 8) knitting needles or size needed to obtain gauge. Note: 1 ball will make 3 headbands in your choice of Bernat Mosaic.

Gauge

18 sts and 24 rows = 4" [10 cm] in stocking st.

Instructions

Cast on 12 sts loosely.
Base Triangles: 1st row: (RS). K1. Turn.
2nd and alt rows: Purl all sts from previous row.
3rd row: Sl1. K1. Turn.
5th row: Sl1. K2. Turn.
7th row: Sl1. K3. Do not turn.
Rep 1st to 7th rows twice more (working over next 4 sts for each Base Triangle. 3 Triangles are complete). Turn at end of last rep.

**FIRST TIER: Left Side Triangle: 1st row: (WS). K1. Turn.
2nd row: Knit into front and back of st. Turn.
3rd row: K1. P2tog over next st and following st from previous Triangle/Diamond. Turn.
4th row: K1. M1. K1.
5th row: K1. P1. P2tog (as before). Turn.
6th row: Knit to last st. M1. K1.
7th row: K1. P2. P2tog (as before). Do not turn.

Right Slanting Diamond: 1st row: (WS). Working from right to left, pick up and purl 4 sts along edge of Triangle/Rectangle below. Slip last st onto left-hand needle and P2tog with next st from previous Triangle/Diamond. Turn.
2nd row: K4. Turn.
3rd row: Sl1. P2. P2tog over next st and following st from previous Triangle/Diamond. Turn.
4th to 7th rows: Rep last 2 rows twice more. Do not turn at end of last rep.
Work 1 more Diamond in same manner.

Right Side Triangle: 1st row: (WS). Working from right to left, pick up and purl 4 sts along edge of side Triangle/Diamond below. Turn.
2nd row: K4
3rd row: Sl1. P1. P2tog.
4th row: K3.
5th row: Sl1. P2tog.
6th row: K2tog. Rem st will count as first st picked up for First Left Slanting Diamond in next Tier.***

SECOND TIER: First Left Slanting Diamond: 1st row: (RS). 1 st is on right-hand needle from previous Triangle. Pick up and knit 3 sts along edge of Triangle below. Slip last st back onto left-hand needle. ssk over last st and next st from previous Diamond. Turn.
2nd row: P4. Turn.
3rd row: Sl1. K2. ssk over last st and next st from previous Diamond. Turn.
4th to 7th rows: Rep last 2 rows twice more. Do not turn at end of last rep.

Next Left Slanting Diamond: 1st row: (RS). Pick up and knit 4 sts along edge of Diamond below. Slip last st back onto left-hand needle. Ssk over last st and next st from previous Diamond. Turn.
2nd row: P4. Turn.
3rd row: Sl1. K2. ssk. Turn.
4th to 7th rows: Rep last 2 rows twice more. Do not turn at end of last rep.
Work 1 more Diamond in same manner.**

Rep from ** to ** (First and Second Tiers) for pat until work from beg measures approx 18” [45.5 cm] ending at ***. 1 st rem.

Final Triangles: 1st row: (RS). Slip rem st from previous Triangle. Pick up and knit 3 sts along edge of Triangle below. Slip last st back onto left-hand needle. ssk over last st and next st from previous Diamond. Turn.
2nd and alt rows: Purl all sts from previous row. Turn.
3rd row: K2tog. K1. ssk (as before). Turn.
5th row: K2tog. ssk (as before). Turn.
7th row: Sl1. K2tog. psso. 1 st rem.
Rep 1st to 7th rows twice more. Fasten off rem st.
