I always tighten up the middle there, I will post a picture of mine later today when I am home.

Here are mine! My very first afghan (and CAL) in the making. I probably would have finished them yesterday if my 8 month old daughter wasn't being so fussy lol.

Has anyone blocked theirs yet? I've never done blocking before, and I'd love to see an example of what the finished shape should look like (especially the corners).

Now to trudge through some WIPs until the next clue, can't wait! :cloud9:

PS sorry if my pic is too big again, I resized but I'm not sure how big is too big without some dimensions :?

EDIT: I wanted to mention also how much I am loving the Waverly!! It's soft, and wonderfully smooth and easy to crochet! So glad I went with it, even hubby is excited at what a soft blankie this will be!

Ooh my poor fingers! Now I remember why I hate tails! Tucking in 24 tails can be very hard on your finger tips. My middle finger tip is so sore right now! Does anyone have any great tips on how to avoid that? Besides taking a break? I really wanted to get my tails in so I could get to the next stage of blocking them all, but now my fingers are so sore I need this break. LOL
I love how soft and cushy Waverly is! I just wanna make a large leaf-like pile and jump in there!

Crisis of color:

I managed to purchase 6 colors instead of five and now I can't decide which five to use. The first pic is of all the colors. The light color in the top left corner is my MC. Any thoughts? Ideas? Shandeh, since you have some insider info, which do you think would work best?

I use a large needle to weave my ends in. So much easier than using a hook!

I have 3 more squares to make and I'll be done with Clue #1! Hopefully, I'll have a photo up tomorrow!

Karen - when I do squares and circles that have the ring in the middle, I carry the tail and crochet over it along with the ring as I do those center stitches... that saves me at least one tail per item to tuck!! ;)

I am trying to match the colors in the pillow in the picture. My colors are: sun drift (mc), porcelain red, willow green, gypsie gold, and blue dress. I want to use the blue the least because I am only using blue to bring out the blue in the bird. which contrast a, b, c, or d would be best for the blue.

thanks in advance,
Donna

I like your first choice. The blue should be color D.

If you decide to go with your second choice, you should let green be color D.

WHEW! i did my first "square" last night and only started a second because i wasn't sure i was doing it right... as my "square" looks more like a "circle"... but reading the thread.. perhaps i'm OK... so does it become a "square" when we start putting the afghan together (like a quilt)?
