I have noticed with every brand of yarn I use, that dyeing can definitely affect a yarn. Some colors are are thicker or thinner, and some colors are softer as well. So, I would recommend doing small gauge swatches with each color.

Yep! Blocking or seaming will pull it into a square.

I managed to purchase 6 colors instead of five and now I can't decide which five to use. The first pic is of all the colors. The light color in the top left corner is my MC. Any thoughts? Ideas? Shandeh, since you have some insider info, which do you think would work best?

I like your first choice. The blue should be color D.

If you decide to go with your second choice, you should let green be color D.

Thanks!

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR REASSURANCE! i'm anxious to try a dark color as my main color is white and it looks kinda "fluffy" compared to the green one in the photo.. that looks so orderly and neat! i'm hoping the "fluffy" look is just because of it being the color yarn it is... altho my suspicions are that it has to do with my technique - altho it all looks EVEN.

THANKS AGAIN!

I could vote for the option with the darker blue as your contrast color (the middle picture). It will look great!

I am really enjoying this project. I have finished 5 of the first 12 motifs and appreciate all those who have posted photos of their finished motifs. It is reassuring that they are not 'exactly' square. Can someone tell me how to go about blocking these? Thanks!
