Finished the first clue. This might be the first time ever that I came out with the right size using the hook called for in the pattern! I didn't use Waverly because this is mostly a stash project. The MC looks blue in this pic--it's really light gray. In fact all the colors are really a shade lighter than they appear in this pic.

So far, so good!

Love seeing all these wonderful colors! No badge for me! I've got only ONE square done (I made myself stay awake to try it) and the rest hopefully this weekend.

I am thinking that we are not done with this 'square' yet and that maybe more rounds are going to be added in another color? Any other guesses out there?

Congrats to all of you high achievers who are finished! :scared:

I finished all my crocheted blocks on the first night (for me that's Thursday) and I've done one more as I still can't decide in which order to put my contrasts. I know we are supposed to have as D a colour that will really pop, but that is my favourite one!

So I'm asking for input please. The CAL afghan is going to be for my sister who is quite feminine but who does live in a house that is male dominated. Her home has cream walls, calico curtains, sandy wood floors and dark wood furniture. The lounge is chocolate leather. The main colour of the afghan is fawn, so the two motifs that are the same colour in the photo are fawn. The other colours I've chosen are chocolate, cream, caramel and a raspberry for the pop but I really love the raspberry and have lots of it and I know my sister and her daughter would too.

What does everyone else think?

Try opening the picture in Paint (this should come preloaded on Windows). Click Image and choose Resize/Skew. For my pictures I reduced both vertical and horizontal to 50%. I did this 3 times and they fit. Hope this helps. Would love to see your color choices! :P

Make sure you resave the smaller image with a different name than the original just in case something doesn't work right. :)

oh my gosh, thank you so much for the directions for reducing picture size, so easy! now I'll be able to add a picture to my name for my profile :bravo:

You can really see the stitches. Thanks for the close-up. Love that soft/pale yellow.

Thanx, I like the yellow too but I'm not too sure about the turquoise.....

I really wanted to get my tails in so I could get to the next stage of blocking them all, but now my fingers are so sore I need this break. LOL
I love how soft and cushy Waverly is! I just wanna make a large leaf-like pile and jump in there!

Karen - when I do squares and circles that have the ring in the middle, I carry the tail and crochet over it along with the ring as I do those center stitches... that saves me at least one tail per item to tuck!! ;)

I agree with didedi, Mikeyssmail on you tube has some wonderful tutorials on how to do just that! It saves so much time in the end

I use the magic circle so it is very difficult, in fact it is impossible, to stitch the start tail in as I go!
Though I did discover why it was so hard to pull my large eye needle through. I was using an old needle, you know, it isn't bent or anything so I thought it was still good. Nope, boy was I wrong! I had bought a knitting kit (With end covers, stitch markers, tape measure and it even had new large eye needles. The new needle is much larger than the one i was using but it ended up going through like butter.

Let this be a lesson to us all! If the needle you are using is hard to pull through, try a new one! I learnt this the very hard way! My fingers are still recovering! lol

If I were you I'd use the raspberry as one of the A,B,C colors and the chocolate as the D color. It's a more interesting color combination and the chocolate is darker so it would still "pop" against all the rest. And judging by the percentage they gave for each color, it should still be just a touch of raspberry when combined with everything else.
