Crochet-Along Clue 1: Spoilers and Photos

Ooh my poor fingers! Now I remember why I hate tails! Tucking in 24 tails can be very hard on your finger tips. My middle finger tip is so sore right now! Does anyone have any great tips on how to avoid that? Besides taking a break? I really wanted to get my tails in so I could get to the next stage of blocking them all, but now my fingers are so sore I need this break. LOL
I love how soft and cushy Waverly is! I just wanna make a large leaf-like pile and jump in there!

Karen - when I do squares and circles that have the ring in the middle, I carry the tail and crochet over it along with the ring as I do those center stitches... that saves me at least one tail per item to tuck!!

I agree with didedi, Mikeyssmail on you tube has some wonderful tutorials on how to do just that! It saves so much time in the end

......My last attempt has been the J, such a big hook, it brought me a little closer to a 4 1/2 inch square but still a little small... Yuks is this just happening to me. Will the rest of the clues work out much to big ??? if I continue with the J ??

You will have a blocking template for each of the clues, so you'll be able to check on that as you go along.

When I watched the 'how to' video that Shandeh posted, I realized how very tight I crochet. So I went back to an I hook (H was still too small for me) and relaxed my hands and the yarn. Perfect fit to the template! Yay for relaxing.

Cool! I had to learn to relax when I crochet about two years ago.

I have arthritis, and quit crocheting about 8 years ago, because it hurt my hands so bad. After watching videos of other crocheters on YouTube, I realized that I needed to loosen my grip. Now, I can crochet as long as I want!

Thought I'd post a picture of my finished blocks, while they were being blocked. Am loving this first pattern. My color choices are (not Waverly colors):
Main Color – Seaspray
Contrast A - Rose Heather
Contrast B - Blush Heather
Contrast C - Dark Rose Heather
Contrast D - Avocado

Oh this is fun. I just finished all my squares. They look to be just the right size. This yarn is very soft and it will be nice to see how this all turns out in the end. Happy crocheting to all of you.
