I had to resize your photo, so we could all see it in the forum.

You need to resize your future photos before posting them.

It might be good if you copy and paste the pattern into a document on your computer. Then enlarge the size of the text, so it's easier to read. You could also arrange it in a row by row order, so you can check off each section as you do it. I sometimes have to do that to make it easier to work certain patterns.

Great tips Shandeh! These are taking me much longer, partly because I have two small children and trying to crochet while they are awake is virtually impossible. I am thinking these tips will help me put it down mid row and be able to pick right back up w/o trying to figure out where I left off...

I hope the advice helps a little!
I remember those days with little ones. I had 3 boys, who are now young men...all taller than me.

I'm having a devil of a time with clue 2. I had the swatch and clue 1 work out right with an H hook, but now in clue 2, I used an H hook and got only a 9" block. I ripped it out and did it again with an I hook and now it's 10 1/2". I usually crochet very loosely as I only wrap the yarn around my index finger and don't hold it. The piece already looks too lacey to me with an I hook and I'm wondering if I should re-do with a J hook to try for the exact 11" or just attempt to pull my blocks to the 11" by pinning? How important is it for this to be 11" since the clue says approximate 11"? :helpme: :rainy: :smashy:

I think you should be just fine with them at 10.5 inches

This block is very stretchy, and blocks bigger, without alot of tension. I have had to knit both on k, but figure if I keep to this hook they should go together. Good luck. I also just got blocking wires, and love them, I will post pictures.

Dear 'Friendly Bernat Lady'

Your idea to work a couple extra rounds helped - thank you :cloud9: I did a round of double crochet then a round of half double crochet. :D

My petals looked fine, but after I completed the chains between them, the clue stopped looking fine. Then I used a bigger crochet hook for the chains and the clue flattened out. May be not a very good idea. But what I am trying to say - use another hook size.

Pictures of my first 2 blocks using my main color. Both crocheted using size K hook, these pictures are before and after blocking using blocking wires. Really like the way it is looking!! :cloud9:

I was having a hard time too. I got some stitch markers and used them to mark my 2 chain spaces and that helped alot. I could then compare mine to the chart to make sure I had the correct amount of stitches between my markers.
