Yes, since both are the same size, and both need to be worked loosely.

AuntyEm wrote::helpme: I just finished my first block of Clue 2 (I started out a week behind) and it came out MUCH smaller than the blocking template. so my question is, do I use a larger hook (I'm thinking size J) and re-do the block, or do I leave it alone? :hrmm:

My clue 1 squares were pretty well lined up with the blocking template.

Thanks!

This is a common problem with Clue #2.
It can be solved most easily by switching to a larger hook. Some participants have switched to a K hook for this clue. There are other options as well. You can read about them in the discussion already established for this clue.

I was already using a K hook and my first one for clue 2 came out too small. I just relaxed my hold on the yarn a LOT and it came out the right size.

I had been having a TON of trouble getting the size of clue 2 correct... After lot of frogging, trying bigger hooks to no avail, and some swearing, I took extreme measures and have gone with an N hook. Now everything is just about the perfect size! What does that say about my tension?! lol

Time to relax, and let the yarn FLOW. That's what I had to learn, because crochet was KILLING my hands and wrists. I had to quit for several years, and switched to knitting. Now, I'm finally able to crochet again, and can use the size hook that's listed in most patterns.

Thanks for your response, and I think you are so right. I like to use crocheting as a stress release and I need to loosen up with it or I won't last long! I think that the CAL is a great exercise in learning and practicing this!
