That is where I have trouble holding onto the work without it twisting and that is about the time my hands go to sleep.

Finished my clue # 3 blocks... They look good, wish it was done in my bitter rose...maybe next week we will use that color (Color B).
Sorry they are kinda crooked looking, I've been storing them in a zip lock bag 2 gallon size.

Happy Friday!!! Here is my clue 3. It was a pain to do but I think I got it down now. I lost count after frogging 7 times. Does anyone know when the last clue will be out? I'm making this for my grandma (my crochet inspiration) and her birthday is the middle of April. Thanks to all for all the hard work and beautiful pictures!! :bravo: :cloud9:

or maybe wooden skewers??? they're cheap!

I got my bamboo skewers out for clue 1 and they're too rough for me to use. Yarn would get caught on :knit: them so I didn't even try. If yours are nice and smooth that's grea t. S o I think I might go to Lowes and see if they have some small diameter PVC or see if they have some sturdy wire that won't bend and doesn't have oil on the wire. Dowels are also another choice. My local hobby lobby doesn't have a large selection on double pointed knitting needles and I don't think they have ones that are 12 " long.

By the way, that happened to me on clue 2 as well, but at least I caught that one before I finished it! I have a terrible tendency when I get to the end of a row to increase...which of course I did. So out the block came back to where the 8th point was...and sure enough, that was where I made an extra point. I was much quicker finishing it the second time :) And I now have an octogon! :) I felt this block "stretched me" as a crocheter which is part of the reason I am doing this CAL! My favorite block so far is block 2 which I think I will use that pattern to make a dishcloth! :)

The same thing happened to me on clue 3 :)

Laina, the needles don't need to be 12 inches long as they are only being used on the short sides of the octagonal shape ... I use my short dp sock needles and they go from nail to nail on the board that my husband made me for blocking. If I want to prepare more than one at a time, then I use my longer fine needles as well but the short ones will do the trick! Good Luck!

I was intrigued by someone's post that mentioned using a contrasting yarn on the 'flower' part of the piece so I gave it a try. I liked it so much I went back and re-did clue #2.

Our CAL is 15 weeks long, this is just the 3rd week. I think you'll have to let grandma know her blanket will be a little late. :)
