 Hey, don't give up.... I'm pretty new to crochet and very new to following a pattern and this one clicked for me, after looking at the chart and reading the instructions. I'm done with one, only 5? more to go....

oh, and by the way, i finished my first after a marathon run for groceries. have i mentioned how much i HATE grocery shopping. ok, ANY shopping?

anyway, the irony is, after being so darn cool and identifying that error in round 4, i went back to my work and discovered i'd done the ENTIRETY of round 4 wrong. for some unknown reason i inserted a extra ch 1 on the "uphill" side of each point. had to rip it out and redo it. :) gotta love crocheting!

I am just finishing going through the 16 pages of forum, so I am now ready to start my first.

Yeah I am really quick at working things like this up. I don't know why, I always have been. I remember 10 years ago on my very first crochet project (a baby layette), my best friend who was teaching me had to keep telling me to slow down because I would go so fast I would mess something up and then just be a big ball of tears because I screwed up. Now, to be honest I might have to tear out one of the motifs because it is slightly small, but other than that, I only have 1 more to go and I will be done for the week. I am thinking about getting some of my scrap yarn out and doing a second one for my mother-in-law. I keep saying I want to make her something and this seems like a good project to do, since I seem to be able to work up all the motifs in a day or two. I feel like I am tooting my own horn, but really I don't know why or how I am so fast...it just comes naturally to me to be quick I guess. On projects like this I sort of wish I was slower because then I wouldn't have to wait a whole week before I could come back to it!

Oh, pleeeeeeese don't call it scrap yarn--that will hurt its feelings; refer to it lovingly as stash yarn--a much more noble name!!!

I call it scrap yarn because I don't have a "full" skein of anything in the "stash" it is just the left overs of all my old projects that I keep promising myself and my husband that I am going to make an "ugly quilt" or "ugly Snuggie" out of and then never do! I could probably start a scrap yarn shop somewhere and make a fortune! Sorry if I hurt your yarns feelings, it wasn't my intent ;)

does yarn have feelings? if so some of the names *I* have called certain yarns over the years probably put it into therapy. :hrmm:

I think we have all worked with some of those yarns that deserved those creative names!!!!

I want to make sure I have round 4 correct - Working into rem loops up side of point from last rnd, I got this, but then it says Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1, Miss next hdc, 1 sc in next dc, Ch 1. Miss next dc, 1 sc in next dc. Miss next dc, 1 sc in next dc.

Okay, if I am reading this right I am going to do 1 sc in the sc, then ch 1, miss the hdc and do 1 sc in the 1st dc, then ch 1, miss the 2nd dc, 1 sc in the 3rd dc, miss the 4th dc, then do 1 sc in next dc. There are only 4 dc, the next stitch is a sc, is that a typo?

Thanks,
Marcine

The easiest way to help you figure out the mistake is to tell you to go back and re-download the clue. When you open the page make sure you hit F5 before reprinting. This will make sure that you have the correct instructions in front of you. What you should be doing after sc in the 3rd dc is to (NO ch1) sc in the next sc, skip the next ch and sc in the next ch...

Are you referring to the knit-along or the crochet-along?
