On the 4th round, in the next to last line, it says "1 sc in the next dc," which is how you kind of tie off that stretch that goes around the point. Shouldn't it be 1 sc in the next SC? That is how it looks on the diagram.

in round 4, after you do the 3ch to go around the point you will do a sc in next sc, then, chain 1, then skip the hdc and sc in next dc.

so you're right, you do one sc in the next sc, but it's written in the pattern that way:
"Ch 3.Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1.
Miss next hdc. 1 sc in next dc."

stpete is, imo, correct. round 4 should read:

CH 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *Working into rem loops up side of point from last rnd, (Miss next ch, 1sc in next ch. CH1) twice. Miss next ch.1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch1. Miss next hdc. 1 sc i next dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Miss next dc** 1 sc in next SC...

in other words, where it reads "1 sc in next dc" at the end of the round, it should read "1 sc in next sc". this is the sc you connected the previous round's "point" to the ring with.

other opinions?

I have to agree - I'll wait until the whole thing is done, but after that I might make another blanket with more color changes depending on how the whole thing comes out.

Are the points in Round 3 supposed to be pointing straight out? Mine are kind of....curved to the right.

DJP - don't look at it with dread....everything is there in the instructions and any or all of us will be glad to help any way we can. so many people just crochet back-and-forth rows, and there is so much more possible with a hook and some yarn! once you learn some of these skills used in these hints, you will be able to do SO MUCH MORE!

you can do it...i know it's so hard to visualize from the written word. I'd be more than happy to take a series of pictures and email them to you if you really get stuck....tell me where/what is stumping you, and I can lay it out in a series of photos that should help a lot.

mine curved at first...after you finish round 4 that won't happen. but watch for a correction to round 4 before you start it....

Another thing about round 4

Postby dsegel » Wed Feb 29, 2012 12:28 pm

When it tells you to "repeat from *" I think there should be a ch 1 (after the sc in the sc).

Would you agree? :idonno:

 we are all such a bunch of crochet nerds! we're getting fired up over a (small) error in the pattern, the preference for solid vs. multi-color motifs, and in general how fast we can do something we're DOING FOR FUN!!!

<giggles>

sorry. i just think it's awesome. :) and, i'm right there with everyone.

You ARE right! We're updating the pattern file as I speak, but the corrected row 4 should read

4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *Working into rem loops up side of point from last rnd, (Miss next ch.
1 sc in next ch. Ch 1) twice. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1. Miss next hdc. 1 sc in next dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Miss next dc.** 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending at **. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

After we get this fixed I'm going to get started making a badge for folks who find these sorts of mistakes!
