On the 4th round, in the next to last line, it says "1 sc in the next dc," which is how you kind of tie off that stretch that goes around the point. Shouldn't it be 1 sc in the next SC? That is how it looks on the diagram.

in round 4, after you do the 3ch to go around the point you will do a sc in next sc, then, chain 1, then skip the hdc and sc in next dc.

so you're right, you do one sc in the next sc, but it's written in the pattern that way:
"Ch 3.Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1.
Miss next hdc. 1 sc in next dc."

stpete is, imo, correct. round 4 should read:

CH 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *Working into rem loops up side of point from last rnd, (Miss next ch, 1sc in next ch. CH1) twice. Miss next ch.1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch1. Miss next hdc. 1 sc i next dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Miss next dc** 1 sc in next SC...

in other words, where it reads "1 sc in next dc" at the end of the round, it should read "1 sc in next sc". this is the sc you connected the previous round's "point" to the ring with.

other opinions?

jaz

I agree, there is definitely a typo there. It should be sc not dc.

Curving in Round 3 is okay. They get even more rounded in Round 4.

You might be right. Let me run and check with the designer. BRB!

Thank you, Jen! I was a little confused with that part last night myself, but it was 3 AM. I knew you were sleeping. :?

Would you agree? :idonno:

I would not agree....i did THINK it while doing it tho'. :hrmm: lol. but i tired it as written and it seems to work out well. my points after round 4 looked exactly like the diagram, and mostly lie flat like they are supposed to. if you add a ch in there, it may make the points a bit floppy at the base. this leaves them a bit more solid.

imo, of course.

I have to agree - I'll wait until the whole thing is done, but after that I might make another blanket with more color changes depending on how the whole thing comes out.

I was thinking the same thing. I made last years with some different colors and it is beautiful.

Feel free to change colors if you want, but the look of your blanket will be different from Bernat's original design.

My experience is the same as Jaz' - i followed the pattern as charted and it came out well without an extra ch 1.

Round 4 helps to flatten them out. At the end of Round 3, it has the look of a sea creature. :)

You ARE right! We're updating the pattern file as I speak, but the corrected row 4 should read

4th rnd: Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as last sl st. *Working into rem loops up side of point from last rnd, (Miss next ch.
1 sc in next ch. Ch 1) twice. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch. Ch 3. Working across opposite side of point, 1 sc in next sc. Ch 1. Miss next hdc. 1 sc in next dc. Ch 1. Miss next dc. 1 sc in next dc. Miss next dc.** 1 sc in next sc. Rep from * around, ending at **. Join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off.

After we get this fixed I'm going to get started making a badge for folks who find these sorts of mistakes!

Thanks so much for verifying and correcting! This pattern is actually very fun and different.

Jaz and Jen are right, you should not add a ch. The pattern is correct--but you have to keep an eye on it, because you make ch 1s in between the other stitches, so it's a habit to just keep doing it.
