Ok, done with my dozen clue 4...i like all the layouts posted but i'm thinking maybe the layout won't be the traditional rectangle...with all the octogons it would be interesting to be something other than a regular shape! :hrmm:

this isn't the same problem, but i meant to post this before and forgot.
After finishing round 3, I found there was a gap at the join - when joining round 2 and beginning round 3, if you sl st into the top of the ch 3 turning chain which started round 2, then ch3 to start the dc of round 3....the turning chain 3 of round 3 hangs to the side of the popcorn below, instead of directly above it. After the round is complete, it leaves a gap between the turning chain and the first dc in the ch 1 space next to it.

I fixed it by joining round 2 w a sl st in the ch 1 AFTER the first popcorn of Round 2. Then Round 3 comes out with almost no gap.

I don't have pictures because I did all of them this way. If anyone wants me to show what I mean, I can put that together and post pictures.

Did anyone else do this?

jaz

Jaz--I did the exact same thing with my squares. I didn't like the gap I got on round 3 so I decided to slip stitch into the popcorn. I have some done both ways...I can try to post later today to show the difference in the two. I'm hoping to correct the gap on those few when I block them. I'm still really new at this so I'm hoping it will work...hee hee...

Ummm...I was noticing that some of you are leaving 12 in. tails on these as well...did I happen to miss that in the directions?

Some of us are leaving tails on each of the clues to help with seaming. It was recommended at the beginning but not required. Several are weaving in the tails on each of the clues. Just a personal preference on how you like to seam...

Clue #4

In this photo you can see there is a gap between the beginning and end of round 3.
(Jaz mentioned this in a previous post.)
Clue #4 Gap resized.jpg

To close up the gap, I slip stitched into the top of the popcorn and then did the ch 3 to begin round 3.

I was playing around taking pictures and thought this one really shows the texture of the popcorn stitch.

Almost finished Clue #4. I thought I would post my pictures now since it is supposed to rain for a whole week! :)

Love how this one pops! (Both color and texture) :)
