Re: trouble with popcorn stich

I haven't tried this clue yet, because I spent the day with a good friend today. It was nice to take a break. We made a pot roast together, had wine and cheese, played bananagrams, drank some pear nectar, and went to home depot. At the end of the day, I went home with bags full of crafts! Several months ago, my friend's mother passed away, and left behind lots of sewing and crafty stuff. Now, all that stuff has found a new home in my craft room. :cloud9:

Now that I'm back home, I'll be able to spend some time working on Clue #4. I've never done a popcorn stitch before, so this should be interesting! :)

Colors A, B, and C are used equally in the Crochet-Along.

"Sorry, the board attachment quota has been reached."
What exactly is that supposed to mean? My attachment quota, how many can be posted to the forum all together?

Tedra64 wrote:Yeah, I couldn't do my photo either, same error, the board attachment quota has been reached. /shrug

Not sure about that. Some other forum members have seen that same message today.
I think it's an overall forum issue. Hopefully, we can get that resolved.

Do you have a link to the photos? I will try to post them for you.

After copying several patterns for various things, adding several new patterns to an internet shopping cart I notice the sun is going down and I realize it's getting late and I can't remember what I'm doing on the internet when I have a crochet project in front of me  .. and OH YA!!! wonky first row ... so then I came in to have a lookie loo at everyone else's.

This sounds EXACTLY like what I have done. Always forget what I started out doing.
Usually, I will leave the webpage open with the issue I'm working on.
Then, I open a DIFFERENT page to find the answer.

This way, when I open up the first tab again, I get reminded of what I was trying to figure out.

I was trying to figure that out too, as this is my very first popcorn stitch...
Seemed the most reasonable place to crochet into it was where the first and last stitches join at the back of it - so I did. And after seeing the results, if that was wrong, I'm not sure I wanna be right...

oh this one is awsome! :D But I also found out my D-yarn is a little thicker. I think I'll have to go down a size. My clue#1 squares haven't been blocked yet, but they will get all stretchy if i'd make the equally sized. So lets try my 5mm instead of the 6mm. I noticed a little mistake anyway in this first square:

That last one does show the color great :)

The first popcorn of the 2nd row needs to go into the joining stitch from the previous row, chain one, the 2nd popcorn in the chainspace. Than you make 3 chains and do another popcorn in that same chainspace you just did the last popcorn in, chain one. Than into the joining chain from the popcorn of the 1st row and than those 2 in the chainspace again.
Not sure if my exsplaining actually helps or makes it worse. Try using the diagram, that helps to see where the stiches go. The written instruction helps with the how (to me)

after seeing your pictures I would go with the burgundy, it's different and we haven't used contrast B yet, which looks to be your white and, since it's supposed to be for your son, the burgundy puts some masculinity into it.
