I used all dc on the final round including an extra dc in the sc between the chain spaces ( so it makes 13 dc, ch 2 repeat around). It doesn't look like it will need blocking, yay!

I haven't started yet. I'm a bit worried :scared: because of all the posts but I like your picture, so I'm going to try doing it your way.

All the double crochets on the last round look great!

I too followed bigfunfam,

here's mine...

kathieh, those look great! Quick question, so the dtr clusters, do you just do the 2 dtr clusters and then chain 5 and repeat until you have a total of 8? I was trying to do that last night after reading some of the posts and I must have been either really tired or the allergy medicine was wearing off because I could not seem to get it to work, frogged several times

I finally was able to finish this in my official CAL 2 colours. I think I may have held my tension too tight, but I really love the overall look. It is not 11 inches, but since none of my other CAL 2 motifs are to size it doesn't make a big difference. It matches what I have before. My CAL 1 is perfect, perfect size, perfect motifs (as in followed the patterns) and I stuck with official. For CAL 2 I switched up clues 2 and 6.
CAL 2 78.JPG

I named it 78 for the doily pattern it is derived from. The doily had no name other than a number! I love how you can make almost anything in different weights and get totally different sizes! So obvious, yet still so cool!

I will try to put into words, bear with me, for the first round I chained 5 then did a dtr. Then chain 5, to do the dtr cluster I yo 3 times and worked the stitch until I had 2 loops on the hook, then yo 3 times and worked the stitch until I had 3 loops on the hook, then pulled through all three loops (that made the cluster. one stitch on top). ch 5, and continued until I had 8 "petals", ch 5 and slip stitch into top of first "petal"

because of the ch 5 inbetween "petals" I skipped to row 3.

I hope that makes some sense. I am more of a visual learner. I have really only used the diagrams of the clues to learn them. Sometimes the words confuse me!

Thank you for the explanation, I will give it a whirl tonight once the kids are in bed and I can focus. I seems to make sense, we'll see.... :reading:

I have completed all of Clue 6. Three are already blocked and the others are being blocked today! I have really enjoyed keeping up with the clues and also learning new stitches. :bravo:

Here is a picture of the contrast B (Bitter Rose)

Finally all motifs finished. Thanks so much to all of you who worked out the bugs in clue 6. I did the dtr clusters w/ chain 5 for the centers and did the last round as charted because I could see the way it will curve, looking more like lace on the edge. Am using stash yarn instead of my beautiful Waverly yarn. My husband is home in hospice care and I am his 24 hr/day nurse. He has had cancer for 20 years, so many surgeries and treatments. Now it is inoperable and there is no chemo that slows it down. Some days I have alot of time to sit and crochet, others no time to even breathe. I have always made small blankets and donated them to hospitalized veterans through the volunteer services, probably 6 so far this year. So I will donate this afghan to some group because looking at it will remind me of the hardest times, with all the frustration, anger and pain. When he is at peace I will complete my afghan because I really love what I chose and I can stitch it with good thoughts and memories in mind. Do I sound crazy, or does anyone else understand what I mean? :( Just looked at my post and realized how I rambled about my problems. But I don't feel like hitting delete either. Sorry if I depress anyone and thanks for Listening/ reading???

I'm so sorry you're having a difficult time. I'll make sure to say some extra prayers for you and your husband.

I sort of know how it feels. I first learned to crochet when I was on bedrest early in my pregnancy with my precious twins. I miscarried them and couldn't look at the blanket again. It took 3 years before I could even pick up a crochet hook again. In the end, I pulled the yarn from that blanket and used it to make a blanket for the precious baby I found out I was expect just days after the twins I had lost were due to be born. That baby is now my darling 3 year old who adores that blanket, and I can actually smile when I see it.
