I am right there with you! I have finished all of clue #1 and almost 3 of clue #2...habent even printed the other 4 clues! Between traveling, craft shows, household stuff, the 9 yr olds science fair project, and work I havent had a lot of time to work on it! Hoping to catch up in the next couple weeks!

karenarp wrote:I finally was able to finish this in my official CAL 2 colours. I think I may have held my tension too tight, but I really love the overall look. It is not 11 inches, but since none of my other CAL 2 motifs are to size it doesn't make a big difference. It matches what I have before. My CAL 1 is perfect, perfect size, perfect motifs (as in followed the patterns) and I stuck with official. For CAL 2 I switched up clues 2 and 6.
CAL 2 78.JPG

I named it 78 for the doily pattern it is derived from. The doily had no name other than a number! I love how you can make almost anything in different weights and get totally different sizes! So obvious, yet still so cool!

I LOVE the texture in this with the popcorn and FPTR stitches and then it fades to a lacy border. Great job and thanks for sharing. :bravo:

You don't sound crazy at all. My mum and I did the exact same thing when my Dad was in the hospital with cancer. All the days (or maybe it was daze) we sat there and knitting/crocheting was what kept us partially sane over those 10 months. In the end we left everything we made at the hospital as comfort to patients and family members since those blankets held so much pain for us.

My heart goes out to you. I completely understand.

I did the dtr clusters w/ chain 5 for the centers and did the last round as charted because I could see the way it will curve, looking more like lace on the edge. Am using stash yarn instead of my beautiful Waverly yarn. My husband is home in hospice care and I am his 24 hr/day nurse. He has had cancer for 20 years, so many surgeries and treatments. Now it is inoperable and there is no chemo that slows it down. Some days I have alot of time to sit and crochet, others no time to even breathe. I have always made small blankets and donated them to hospitalized veterans through the volunteer services, probably 6 so far this year. So I will donate this afghan to some group because looking at it will remind me of the hardest times, with all the frustration, anger and pain. When he is at peace I will complete my afghan because I really love what I chose and I can stitch it with good thoughts and memories in mind. Do I sound crazy, or does anyone else understand what I mean? :( Just looked at my post and realized how I rambled about my problems. But I don't feel like hitting delete either. Sorry if I depress anyone and thanks for Listening/ reading???

I will keep you and your family in my prayers!
God Bless

So sorry LeeJoyce. I will pray for you as well. Hugs!

Hi LeeJoyce, HUGS  to you as you care for your hubby. Crocheting was my lifeline after my dad had a massive stroke. I was his care giver for a year in my home. Even after we placed him the a VA home, I still traveled to Kentucky rosee him every month until he passed last April, almost three years after his stroke. Now, this CAL is helping me as I am dealing with my mother's cancer that is terminal. She was given two to three months to live. So, I am back traveling to Kentucky to split the care of her with my sister. I just spent two weeks there (returning to Alabama yesterday) and will be returning in a week or two for another two week stay. Don't feel bad about "rambling" on here. I discovered that there some awesome people on this forum two weeks ago when I was told about my mother's cancer prognosis. We will get through this together!

I have a crochet smiley that someone on the forum here posted. Here is the smiley Image

I'll try later on my computer to figure out how to send the design to you so you can use it.....on my iPad at the moment.
