Crochet-Along Clue 6

Just finished the first MC clue 6 motif. Hope I did it right. It is blocking right now but should be dry in an hour or so as it is 88F in SW Michigan. Another record breaking temperature. When it gets dry I'll take a picture. Now its back to making the second MC motif followed by the color B motifs. Happy crocheting everyone!

I just can't decide if I should work over the whole post or actually put the stitches into the post itself...

I turned the work 1/4 turn clock-wise, and then stitched into the two loops that were now on the top - just like you would normally do with the top of the single crochet. Err, this is hard to explain. Did I make any sense?

Was very unhappy with the way the dtr looked at the end of the first round, so I finished with a chain 11 instead, then slipped stitched into the first single crochet and finished off. Then I slipped stitched into the top of the chain 11 space and did a sc and continued with the pattern, looks a lot nicer to me.

Not gonna lie, I haven't even looked at the clue yet (I always read the forum before looking) and I am SUPER intimidated! I have been crochetting for 10 years and have never heard of a double treble or crochetting into the side of a sc that didn't mean crochet around the post...I'm a smart girl so hopefully I will be able to figure this out!

Don't be intimidated. I've been crocheting for less then a year and I didn't find it so hard to finish.
Everything somehow seems really complicated when you read about it. But the dtr is basically just a really really long dc, and crocheting into the side is actually the most natural thing to do with that stitch when you get there. So much so that went to look it up AFTER I successfully made one - it just didn't feel complicated enough!

I'm about to go back and do the same thing. I think I might actually put the sc in the 6th chain on each of the petals to keep them centered too. Finished the first one but that one spot is just making me crazy so I never bothered cutting the yarn because I knew as soon as dinner was over I was going to have to pull it and fix the beginning.

I love the idea of putting the single crochet into the 6th chain to keep them centered, just don't know if I want to start all over again, I am almost finished with the first motif. Maybe I will try it on the second one and if I like it I will make an extra one!!

Have finished all of clue 6 and I also crocheted in the SIDE of sc. All the same so not going to take apart.

Round 6 takes entirely too long! All the clusters with the lacieness...I will admit that this isn't as difficult as I first thought it would be. Crochetting into the side of the crochet might be better understood if it were stated to crochet into the center of the sc, but other than that it is all working up rather easy. I didn't understand the point of the dtc in round 1. Why couldn't we just do another ch 11 and then join with a sl st? It seems like they just threw it in so that we would have another new technique to try out. It makes the last petal look so different from the others it makes me want to rip it all out and start over doing it with the chs instead. I also liked the suggestion about putting the sc into the 6th ch of the 11 so that the petals stay centered. I'm just rambling now so I will stop typing!

I think they added the stitch so that you wouldn't have to fasten it off after the petals. I tried using ch stitches instead and slip stitching to the top of the next petal, but it made that petal look just as strange with the extra bulk as using the dtc did. In the end, I used chains and just fastened it off after making those petals. I slipped into the 6th ch of a petal, chained 1, made the sc in the same stitch, and continued like it said but with each sc going into the 6th ch on each petal instead of just going into the ch 11 space.
