I have tried 3 different layouts. I liked the first one best but not happy with any of them.

I give kudos () to others who have posted more than one design....I don't know how you do it. :bravo:

Here's what I was able to come up with....

Love your layout! I think with a couple of tweaks on the colors of squares, I just found a perfect house warming gift for my co-worker. Thanks! :cloud9: :hellogoodbye:

Thanks! :D I'm sure your co-worker will love it. :D :D
Happy knitting and crocheting!!

Here's my possibility. I followed Mom2x2's design. Those 3 colored squares from clue 1 need a place to fit and the only place seems in the center of the flower. I blocked all my octogons. I am going to start blocking my squares too.

I am still trying to post a picture. I can't seem to get it to work. My design is to put all the MC around the edge. I have a "flower of octagons in the center with no square in the center. This space can be left open or some stitches such as chains can be put in to connect them.Image

To post a Flickr photo, it's best to use the "Share" button on the Flickr photo page.
Then, click "Grab the HTML/BBCode". Next, click the BBCode button under the block of code.
(our forum uses BB code, instead of HTML)

I usually post the "Medium" size, because it works in forums and blogs very well.

I found your photo, and posted it here, using the steps I mentioned above:

By the way, I like your design.
You could always crochet an extra square, and put it in the center.

All my yarn projects are CAT SCANNED (by Jasmine, my persian cat) and LAB TESTED (by Shep, my rescued lab-chow mix). I just call them my Quality Control Department.
