Crochet-Along Clue 7 (Week 8): Spoilers and Photos

super excited i am all caught up and ready for the border next week.

For the 2012 CAL I made a baby blanket using the first three clues. I used Bernat Softee Baby in Soft Lilac and Bernat Baby Coordinates in Soft Mauve for a monochromatic blanket. When it came to assembling it, I decided to use a braid stitch in white for a bit of contrast. As far as edging rounds, that has yet to be decided. Maybe white with a row of Soft Lilac in it.

Since I made two afghans in the 2010 CAL, there was no need to make a full-size afghan in this CAL. This shows one of my 2010 CAL afghans + pillow with the 2012 CAL baby blanket.

I have finished stitching together my 1st CAL!

For my second, I have decided that I am going to borrow boyd121's layout design with an additional motif.
I went out this evening and bought a bright orange color. I also am going to use crochetfanatic's motif suggestion as my 4th motif. I am really liking the colors. My MC for this one is white.

This is GREAT! The colors you chose are so bright and cheery and a white border will be perfect. My KAL afghan is done so I was checking out how the CALers were coming along.

My sewing skills suck!

Gosh, I remember feeling that way! Just be patient with yourself. Your blanket will be warm and comfy, no matter how the seams go. As time goes on, your seaming will improve, just like your crochet has.

Rows are done! Time to attach them together, but I wanted to get a sense of what my blanket will look like. I like the layout I just wish I had chosen colours that were more flower-like. Even though I have enough MC for the border, I might use my D colour instead. My favourite colour ended up being Greek Sea (the darker green); that would have been a nicer MC I think.

While Sir Spotacus didn't help with the crocheting or the blocking (I may have to try that next time Dour2005!), he certainly felt the need to inspect my work closely as soon as I laid it all out.

:bravo: I am just browsing. I made the KAL blanket and wanted to see what the CAL looked like. I have to say that I am envious of the beautiful blanket you-all have made. Every one is a work of art. May you enjoy them for many years.

Before I seam - input please! Which do you prefer?
1. The official CAL layout

2. Stripes! (The white clue #1 square would have to be replaced by a red one.)

My preference tends towards the stripes, but my husband seems to think that either would be good.

I really love your option 2!!!
