WOW! Really love the mixture of your colors! What a fun blanket :)

:bravo: I too prefer a symmetrical design... thanks for sharing... I am waiting to see if the border helps the original layout... otherwise I may use your idea

I'm glad you like it. :)

This is a good idea - multi-colored clues. Looks much better than with those one-color ones!

I followed the original color instructions and am now unhappy with what I got :( I pulled out of the crochet-along after Clue 5 :(

Love it, crochet fanatic. I prefer symetrical as well so I may join you. Although I liked generationsue's too. Not sure if you saw hers. Here's a picture of it. http://www.flickr.com/photos/generationsue/6896547766/

Laina, the odd square to octagon edges were bothering me, so I had to do something to make it have four squares. I'm glad you liked it. :hellogoodbye:

I'm not a fan of the layout either. I ended up redoing clue #5 so that there are 2 MC and 4 color D, and then used the main color for the popcorn stitch clue, also added 1 clue #1 in color D. So I now have 4 squares of each color A, B, C, and D, and 2 of each octagon in the MC. I'll post a picture tomorrow, but I really like how it turned out. Much more symmetrical.

My layout looks a lot like this, but turned 45 degrees. And the MC is 4 in a row on 2 sides instead of 2 on each corner if that makes sense.

I remember that for the CAL 2010 a lot of blankets were not following the official layout .... But it is one of the interst of this mystery CAL : develop our own creativity on the basis of similar patterns ! :bravo:
We are not following a "kit" with everything inside the package but creating our own afghan, with our favorite colours, our favorite yarn, our favorite thinking and our own practices and feelings !!!

:scared: It is an hymn to "freedom and creativity" ... I'm French and I love rules  .... just to do otherwise

(if the admin want to put this message elsewhere, they are allowed to do so  !!! )

I love yours too. The colors look great and tie the whole afghan together!
