I really like the design with the flower motifs but with my main color of Willow and my contrast D color of Sundrift, I did not like the way it looked. After changes and approvals from my husband and daughter, it looks like I am using mom2x2's suggestion from the possibilities. :cooldude:

I have 3 rows joined already. I have so enjoyed this adventure! :D Can't wait to see how the border looks!

Dear daverett. I love your afghan! You did an amazing job with your color changes! I wish I was so imaginative. Have you post your color changes anywhere because I would love to do one like yours. :bravo:

I did the entire blanket exactly the way the patterns and clues told me too - I decided to really buy into the commitment to a mystery and trust the designer, partially as a personal challenge to let go a little :), and while I also prefer symmetry I'm very pleased at the outcome - but I have TONS of leftover yarn (I could probably make three more of this afghan easily) and I'm so impressed by the ideas in this thread that I think I'm going to have to do a 4-flower symmetrical multi-color blanket too :)

At first when I laid out the afghan according to clue 7 I didn't really like it but I'm not nearly as creative as other people in this forum so I started sewing it up and I'm really starting to like it. It looks alot better sewn together. I might use some left over yarn to make a second one like the ones by other people. Everyone's looks so great!

I really love yours! Even your clue 5 - the contrast in the motifs is really beautiful...

I LOVE what you did with motifs!! LOVE LOVE the different colors! With that design and the colors you chose it has a vintage quilt feel that I really adore! Great job and if I ever do this afghan again I will probably "borrow" ideas from yours! Great Job!!!

This one turned out beautifully!

CAL - 2012.jpg

I'm really liking mine, although I switched it up a bit from the original layout. There are still two of the larger motifs, instead of three. And I'm really glad I stuck with a solid color - I didn't have a plan for this originally, but I've now decided it will probably be a wedding gift...

This has been fun, and I'm considering making another!

kathieh wrote:Let me start by saying I really, REALLY love doing this CAL! And I have done each motif as close as possible to the original directions. However, the final layout just does not do it for me. I am way to "symmetrical" a person to be comfortable with it.
So after playing around with my motifs, I think I am settled on this one. I'll figure out what to do with the other 2 at a later time!

Kathie,

I just might steal your idea. The "symmetricalness" of it appeals to me more. Thank you for posting.

 :bravo:

Let me add that I have also loved this CAL and thank Bernat for having it. I have learned some new stiches and new methods of doing things so it has stretched my comfort zone. :bravo:

1. The official CAL layout

2. Stripes! (The white clue #1 square would have to be replaced by a red one.)

My preference tends towards the stripes, but my husband seems to think that either would be good.

With your color choices, both do look good. Having said that now, remember - it is your project, so you have to go with which one makes you feel most comfortable.
