that my Dad suggested I clean the table off and put the afghan on the table. I tried that and it worked.
My bad back is still sore today and may have to put my TENS unit on my back to kill the pain.
But I did find relief by moving to the table. I used safety pins to hold the blocks together until I got to them with the sewing needle and yarn.
Then I would remove that pin and continue sewing until I got to the next one. It really went quicker having it on the table then on the couch.
