I think the floral pattern will offset very nicely with the sunny, yellow walls and any flowers I keep in the room or grow right outside all the windows.

Oh, that sounds so dreamy! Wish we could see a photo of that...

Once we've moved in (not until the end of July :tears: ) I'll post a photo of how it looks in the new room.

I'm not totally in love with my colors. I'm not sure if they'll go in the room as well as some other colors might. I figure if it doesn't work as well as I want, I'll give it to my oldest daughter. She has made it VERY clear that she wants it

Gonna have to dig my heels in and try harder. I've come so far and not finishing is not an option. I have really enjoyed the process until the seaming, which is driving me crazy.

Now that I've vented maybe I can continue.

I'm so sorry that's happened! :(
Good luck with the rest of your seaming.

I limped my way through the first two rows and after having to rip and redo more than I want to remember, I decided for the next row to use my stitch markers to connect the two ends and the midpoint of each set of motifs that I need to seam together. That way I'll have a visual ahead of time as to where I may have to fudge things as opposed to not realizing until I get to the end of one that I still have stitches left on the other. I'm hoping that helps, because I really need a Plan B to get me through this! LOL

I don't mind seaming when everything lines up, but several of the motifs have a different number of stitches, and that's what's killing me right now.

Good luck! We CAN do this! We've come too far to turn back now! :)

Ok...ok...I redid my motif and the seaming is going much better. I have to go in super S-L-O-W---M-O-T-I-O-N, but it is working.

Oh, and using the tails didn't work for me. I'm weaving them in and starting with a new strand of yarn to seam.

Since I do almost all of my crocheting while sitting in the recliner I have found a tried and true way of joining so that the seams come out flat ... I put one of those lap desks on my lap. lay out the stuff I want to seam together, so they lay flat on the lap desk, then sew it together. Of course this is done after I use something to tie the corners together (I use extra yarn but some people use stitch markers).

Of course I still make mistakes when I sew it together in groups as opposed to long strips. With this afghan I sewed together the 3 *flowers* then added around them. But it looks really weird, like there are motifs missing or something (but I put it together as the diagram shows), I am kind of disappointed in how it looks, but I think I'll still give it to my brother and tell him it's quirky like him. :) In a way it reminds me of freeform crocheting.

Oh well, it was an experiment for me. I usually like to see the whole picture of something before I start it and this has been an interesting way for me to step out of the norm.

This is also how I am putting mine together. So far I only have one flower done, will post a pic in the spoiler thread when I'm done with the whole thing.

Quick update.....Mom passed away this morning peacefully and in her sleep. I am 3/4 of the way through seaming the afghan together, will have it done tomorrow and ready for the funeral on Monday. It will be borderless for the funeral but that is fine.

My condolences AlleyTalley. May your mom be at peace, and may you find comfort in the support of your family and friends. {hugs}

Well I got all of the octagons and squares sewed together, now I just have to sew the long rows together. Not looking forward to this part :scared: I am really proud of myself though, I had it planned out to where it would take me the whole week to get it all done, and now it is only Friday night and I am almost finished :cloud9: I am going to take a chance and start the boarder when I am finished with the sewing. I am almost positive that the first round will be just sc all the way around with 3sc in the corners. I won't sew then ends in and back it out if I am wrong, but I'd like to have a head start if in fact my assumption is correct! I just can't see how else they would have us start the boarder so that it looked nice and even. Thoughts? Opinions? :hrmm: :idonno:

I am so sorry for your loss and that she never saw your blanket. It will be wonderful without the border. My thoughts and prayers are coming your way. May you be at peace with your loss.
