Crochet Along: Finished Blanket Photos

Finally finished! I was really good about following the pattern exactly until it came to the border. I ended up doing one round of sc in colour B, one round of hdc in colour A, one round of ladder stitch in MC, and one round of sc in colour D. I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out. The only concern I had with the project was the week 6 clue; it doesn't hold its shape as well as the others so when I hold the afghan up that area stretches a lot.

I am so happy that I took part in this CAL. I learned a lot from everyone, and I really enjoyed the camaraderie of going through this process together. All the afghans look wonderful

Well I finally finised my blanket. I tried and retried different borders and finally I'm happy with it. I confess I did not come up with the layout, but saw it on the Blanket Possibilities thread and really liked it. My colors look well with my living room and I'm very happy with my blanket. It's been alot of fun!
Colors are Birch White, Greek Sea, Aqua Frost, Colonial Beige and Bark. Now here's hoping my picture works

Here is my finished blanket. I'm not too sure about the brown but it is too late to change it now. I had to use stash yarn for this. I had so much fun and learned alot. This got me out of my comfort zone and made me try something new. I did have a devil of a time with clue 6 so I did clue 5 in my green. I did a sc followed by a 5dc shell border. This is for my grandma who inspired me to learn crochet. I will be waiting for the next CAL.

I like the brown!! Beautiful color choices, Klepez! I also like the unique layout of your motifs! The flower and colors look beautiful surrounded by the white motifs! And then the color border frames it all in nicely!! Your grandma will love it! That's special that she was your inspiration to learn to crochet!

I used scrap yarn and a different layout.

OOH!! I love it! I love the purples, it gives the blanket such a bright and cheerful look.

Here is my completed second afghan. I did two rows of single crochet around the outside, per Bernat's original directions to not detract from the great motifs in the afghan.

Wow! That looks so nicely coordinated on your couch. If I ever get all my motifs done, I may borrow your layout of the three flowers across. It gives more symetry to the finished blanket. Great job!

I finished my Mystery Afghan 2012 last week. I decided to go around the outside in sc with each color (4 rows)and then took another person's suggestion and used the block edging using the MC around the very outside. And I am pleased with the results. I used yarn that had been donated to our church and tried to find colors that were pleasing together. The MC was a bit softer yarn and so those motifs are a bit "floppy" which is why I wanted to do a more substantial border. Size is 40" by 55" so it did end up smaller than it was supposed to be and that's even with the added border. It will make a nice lap blanket. I am pleased and would like to thank Bernat for offering this fun alternative to winter boredom!

Attached are pictures of my CAL 2012 that I have been working on. I made it for a friend of mine at work who was diagnosed and treated for thyroid cancer. She is 32, married, and has 4 kids. The blanket is made of colors she liked when she saw me making other blankets for another friend. I gave it to her today, and she was so happy. I love it when that happens!!!!

Thank you! There are so many neat ideas out there...it really is fun seeing what people are coming up with! Someone had mentioned that the original sc around the outside may have been a ploy to get a variety of ideas flowing...by jove, I think they may have been right!
