I finished my Mystery Afghan 2012 last week. I decided to go around the outside in sc with each color (4 rows)and then took another person's suggestion and used the block edging using the MC around the very outside. And I am pleased with the results. I used yarn that had been donated to our church and tried to find colors that were pleasing together. The MC was a bit softer yarn and so those motifs are a bit "floppy" which is why I wanted to do a more substantial border. Size is 40" by 55" so it did end up smaller than it was supposed to be and that's even with the added border. It will make a nice lap blanket. I am pleased and would like to thank Bernat for offering this fun alternative to winter boredom!

Love your border!! I think I might add some to mine.

THANKS for the praise, Lemonchar!

I've read the forums often since joining for this year's CAL, but I rarely post anything. Looking at all these lovely designs though, it's hard to stay quiet. There are so many beautiful blankets and stories to go along with them and so many friendly people here. Thank you Bernat and all you ladies for making this such a fun place to share our love of crochet! Though I've been crocheting for about 16 years, I have learned alot here.

Having finished my blanket I sat watching tv with my hubby last night and my hands felt empty with nothing to work on after being so busy the last couple of months. My hubby of course said that now I could focus on the tv show :) I wanted to start a baby blanket for a lady in my church who is expecting, but the baby is due soon and I'm having hand surgery next Monday so I don't think I'll be crocheting for a bit . . . but it is my left hand so maybe I wouldn't need to use it as much. Instead I covered myself with my pretty new blanket and enjoyed the show.

Now I have two beautiful afghans and I have to decide which to keep and which to give away!! :ire: I just dont have room for two!! I hope whoever gets it loves it as much as I do!!

kathieh, that's beautiful! :bravo: I like how you changed up the colors for the corners. I didn't think of that one. I think I'll make one with bright colors like this for my mom. How did you do your border?

For the yellow border, I did a single all around then on the second round I did a sc, ch 4, sk 1 st, all the way around, round 3 I did a sc in each ch 2 space and then ch 2. I wanted to keep it simple since there was so much going on in the afghan!!

Thanks! It turned out so pretty!

She is 32, married, and has 4 kids. The blanket is made of colors she liked when she saw me making other blankets for another friend. I gave it to her today, and she was so happy. I love it when that happens!!!!

Beth, That is a gorgeous afghan! :cloud9: I am so glad your co-worker loved it and what a blessing you are to her for making it for her.
