I finally finished my blanket after much frogging! I tried several layouts and while I absolutely loved the official layout, it just wasn't going to work in our den as it is my husbands domain. I'll use this as a lap blanket while we are watching tv, etc. I'm surprised that mine seems to be the only one with this layout, but maybe that's not a good thing?? I also wanted a more masculine border, so did my version of fringe. I really enjoy the CAL's, this is my second one, and can't wait for another. Jennifer

I like the layout and the colors.

I love your border, the way the colors twist together is gorgeous!! I might try that as I am now starting my border (if I can figure it out). Nice job

:cloud9:
It's easy!
With 1st color, join w sl st to any edge st, ch 9, pull large loop on hook and drop to back.
With 2nd color, join w sl st to next st (after color 1sl st), ch 9, pull large loop on hook and drop to back.
Repeat for 3rd color.
Pick up 1st color on hook (ch 9 that was dropped first) sc in next st (after color 3 sl st), ch 9, pull large loop on hook and drop to back.
Repeat, alternating 3 colors.
Join correct colors at the end w sl st. You might need to force a decrease, or double up a st to come out
even. :knit:

Thank you for the directions, you're the best!! :notworthy: I can't wait to get out of work today and start trying it!!

I want to take it outside and burn it but the yarn is fire retardant and would only leave a melted pile of plastic as a forever reminder!! I am going to give it one more try and hopefully it will be done and I can do the border.

:ire: :helpme:  :smashy:

Yorkiemom, are you having trouble assembling it? If so, I learned from sonoma a way to join the pieces using the flat braid method and it worked great.

Here's a link to a video on YouTube that'll show you how to flat braid if you want to give it a try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2qfBKZwqBgE

I'm not having trouble attaching the motif's I am slip stitching them together, it's getting the right motif in the right place that is making me nuts. Pretty soon, lighter fluid, big puff! :ire:

When I was putting my two together, I laid out my afghan on the floor first. Then I took a picture of it with my phone. Anytime I got confused to which came next, I was able to look at my picture to see how it should look. Maybe a picture next to you may help!!
Don't give up!!! It will be worth it in the end!!!

I have been lurking since this started and finally decided to post something - my finished blanket photo.
I went with a different yarn as I wanted to do both the Crochet and Knit A Longs at the same time and in the same colors to match each other on our couch. When I went to the store, they were very limited on the color selections so I went with mostly nuetrals with a punch of orange. I am OK with the way it came out but wished I had picked different colors. The colors remind me of 70s colors - rust, brown, orange. Maybe it will look better when I paint the family room green (main color).

I really enjoyed crocheting the motifs all week but didn't really like the finished layout. I used a different layout (taking inspiration from one posted) and added a different border.

I like it!! The contrast of the orange and brown really does look good surrounding your center flower. Nice job! :bravo:

Did you finish the KAL? If so, you should post a picture of the two of them together; I'm sure others would love to see that one as well.

I think your blanket came out quite nice; but it appears that you are frustrated with the end result.

Sorry you didn't get to join us. Maybe you can do some of the smaller projects in the Bernat Crochet and Knit Alongs. Hope to see you there.

I like the colors with the pop of orange, looks really good with the green. :bravo: I think most of us would have changed the colors, or the layout, but the most important thing to me is that I just had fun with it. My layout is almost the same as yours.

I've finished!!! Yay!!! And I'm so happy with the way it turned out. I'm not sure how to add more than one photo so sorry for multiple posts.

Now I know how you all feel that have already finished. It's a great sense of accomplishment, just to have finished. Even all the tails are done.

Thanks for such a wonderful experience Bernat ladies.

Laina :-)
