I just want you all to know how much I love all the different blankets, the various layouts, color combinations, etc. I always want to comment on each individual afghan and say Wow, well done, but it's not possible.

So to each and everyone, collectively, you each have done an awesome job on your Cal's and we're all winners. We have a beautiful blanket, we've all made some new friends, learned some new techniques, etc. Great job everyone!

I already miss the new cluè each week!

I really like your color choices and the way you integrated all the colors into each motif. Great job! :bravo:

Finally finished give or take a few threads. I did some few changes - I started is the sock wool so it's smaller only 2 x 3.5 ' I'm going to be giving it to my cousin as a baby blanket. :cloud9:

I creates so many layout idea that it's crazy. I started with the square idea at the beginning and lots of people seemed to like the idea but i was still wasn't statisfied. I finally put together a nice straightforward rectangle shape but as I was putting the pieces together I put one piece in the wrong place and without having to rip out 10 motifs I refigured. I added red squared to give a pop.

My red motifs are my own designs and the cream is a modification of a square pattern. I also modified the clue 1 to a triangle to close the edges.

I want to thank crochetfanatic for the flower replacement for clue 6 and sonoma for the flat braid. I

I really enjoyed seeing everyone amazing :bravo: designs and hearing people's successes and troubles. I just love all the different layouts and colour. I still can't believe some people were able to finish 2 afghans.

PS I hope I will be able to get out the cat hair  I have two cats Fred and a long hair misty gray JJ.

I finally got my afghan done! I used Bernat Satin colors instead of the Waverly because I couldn't get the colors I liked. I also changed the layout because I just didn't like the way it looked with my color choices. I made a picot edge to go with the lace detail of the motifs. Here are some pictures along with a pillow cover I made using one of the motifs and some Waverly colors. Hope you like.

I am still enjoying my CAL, adding and adjusting... I have put a fringe border all around it now. :cloud9:

My Goodness! I FINALLY finished my beast tonight! ...and I say that with all the affection in the world

I struggled alot with my border...and came up with something that I thought would accent the laceyness of the piece. The individual pieces were blocked as I did them, but I realize I should block the entire piece because of how I did the border.....just have to find a big enuf area to do it in....the bed is too small (as you can see...)

thanks to Bernat and those on this board for the advice and direction....I will definately do one of these again!

Wow, how striking!! :bravo: This looks so nice on the bed; and I just love your border.

I've always started blankets, scarfs, hats, etc. etc., and given every one of them away. But I'm great with a deadline, and finally have my completed afghan to share...Thanks for all the stories, tips and encouragement along the way. This has been challenging! Always for you.....Lynn

I'm glad you could finish on time. This is lovely! Great job on the use of your colors and your layout. :bravo:

When I was making the pages for the KAL and CAL finished photos, it reminded me of my earlier days as an executive assistant. Lots of typing and organizing. It was nice to get it finished, and I enjoy looking through all the blankets myself.

I cannot be nominated as most helpful, because I work for Bernat. :) But, I certainly appreciate your kind words! Makes me feel loved and appreciated. As for the time I spend on the forum, I am sort of a work-aholic, I guess. I just like to be busy. When I'm not on the forum, I teach piano lessons, practice piano and organ for church, go to choir rehearsal, perform for church services and weddings and funerals, and I occasionally compose my own music. I also spend a lot of time knitting and crocheting, and reading books. And I also love to shop at thrift stores, consignment shops, antique stores, craft stores, and yarn shops. I'm a very busy person, but I like it that way. ;)

So, do you ever sleep???? You certainly are one busy lady! But I'm so glad that you find time to spend with us here in the forum.

bglknitter wrote:Here are my two CAL afghans ... the first one done in Bernat Waverly Simplicity colours - Birch White as MC; A - Aqua Frost; B - Colonial Beige; C - Bark; and D - Greek Sea. I followed the Bernat layout including the sc border. I used yarn of the colour of one or other side being sewn, to attach them together and this seemed to work well. My Grandmother taught me that a ‘good’ seamstress never uses a long thread, so I guess this was one opportunity to do that! This one is for my daughter and she chose the colours to suit her home. It is a lovely soft afghan and I am sure she and my three grandkids will enjoy it.

My second afghan was made for my husband and in an effort to make it less flowery as well as just show off the stitches, I used Bernat Super Value Honey for all the motifs and then did a sc around each with TLC Dark Brown (Bernat doesn’t seem to make a dark brown at this time) ... and then sewed them with the dark brown. The border is sc in dark brown, then what some have called ladder stitch - sc with ch 1, in Honey and then the final row is solid Dark Brown dc, in the sc as well as in the ch 1 all around. This afghan is a wee bit larger than the other due to the extra border on each motif as well as the larger final border. He approves!

Great job on both of these! :bravo: I love the one you made for your husband; the color contrast is really eye-catching. :bravo:
