Tootie,

I did the last CAL. Some things I learned:
Yes, you can print out each step and do it at your own pace. When they give a clue one week, they show you what it should look like the next. Take your time and do it at your own pace. The people on the blog will help with questions. We're a very friendly bunch!
Use the recommended yarn. I did the last one with Jiffy by Lion because my AC Moore didnt carry the required Bernat yarn (I requested them to do so for this one and chastised the manager for not keeping up with the necessary websites!). Needless to say, my afghan turned into a queen-sized bedspread. Beautiful, but way bigger than it should have been. Use the Waverly.
The Waverly collections are set up as suggestions. You dont have to stick to all the colors of one collection. I'm mixing them. It's really interesting to see the different ways the members combine colors in the finished product. We have many creative people out there! Choose the colors and then GO TO THE STORE TO SEE THEM. I chose antique for my base color, thinking it's a dusty rose. I went to Michael's and saw it was actually a brownish color. I had to rethink my colors.
And finally, if you cant decide to CAL or KAL, do both! Make one in colors for one room and the other for the other room! Just print out each set of instructions! Enjoy! Caryn

It's my first time too, but i'm worried about two things; first, I understand english but I speak french, i'm effraid not to understand instructions cause second, i'm not so bad for knitting, but I think crochet are quicker (and I prefer the look of crochet). Did someone speak french will help me to achieve my project???

You might want to copy the instructions and paste them into the Google translate program offered on Google.com. It will translate from English to whatever language you need them in (choose French).

Yarn is here. Test swatch done. Now, the long wait for the first clue.

So nice to see some familiar faces and all the new ones, too.

I'm a first timer too. I have seen other knit/crochet alongs but never did one. The mystery part of this is what drew me to it. I decided to both the knit and crochet. Choosing colors was a bit of a chore as I could not decide with all the pretty colors to chose from. I have mixed and matched the waverly paletes with colors I liked the best. Not knowing what each week's instruction will bring will keep it an interesting project. I can't wait to start !!!!

Hello everyone,

I have been crocheting for years - mostly hats because it is hard to make a big project commitment. I am hoping that being a part of a group that is working on a project "together" will keep me motivated to complete an afghan. I taught myself to crochet and my specialty is Fish hats. I prefer crocheting to knitting since I feel there is a great deal more flexibility to crocheting. My introduction to the fiber arts came through my father - who taught me to knit on a pair of pencils!

Looking forward to being a part of this group.
