I took part in a previous CAL and it is one of the favorite afghans in the house. my roommate always takes it and says she is going to take it with her when she moves out! im excited for this years CAL. I loved having something to look forward to every week and it kept me interested because i didnt know what the end result would look like. im very intrigued to see what this will look like

Hi.. I'm Ellie in California.. This is exciting! I have never worked a project with a group online. I bought my "colors" yesterday while browsing at Michael's Craft Store. They have the Waverly as well as other Bernat yarns. I'm a yarn addict and I want them all! ha. I decided to make the crochet format rather than the knitted one. I prefer an afgan to be more "lacy" rather than a tighter solid knit. Looking forward to the "Mystery" and wish everyone a fun and productive experience.

Not knowing what the final result will be, isn't this the most fun part? :D

iheartjava:

I also fall into the newbie category and only learned to crochet three months ago. I am nervous as well. I am intimidated by anything with a gauge :scared: and have yet to be successful with anything worked in a round or resembling a granny square. So pleased to have this forum for advice and support!! :)

I am a first timer also. Sounds like this can be real interesting and I have never done something like this. I guess I need to decide what colors I want to work with so that I will be ready to role.

I'm very excited for this fun project. I am going to do a big house cleaning this weekend so I am ready to crochet guilt-free! (For a while anyway!)

My daughter has decided to do it as well. She will be knitting hers. We live in different states but we will be doing it together - very cool!

We need a crocheting smiley ;)

I haven't done this before either, but I've roped two friends into doing this with me so I'm very excited to get started!

Welcome! :hellogoodbye:

You can read great advice on choosing your colors here:

Then, you can choose your 5 yarn colors, with our Waverly "My Palette" Tool.
