I am also a first timer and I can't wait to get started. I've got my yarn on the ready. I picked colors that will look nice in my living room. I am planning to bring it all with me to work tomorrow morning so I can get started during my lunch break. I am looking forward to working out this mystery with you.

Hi all, I am a newbie here. Have been crocheting for a number of years - but never participated in anything like this. In fact, never heard of anything like this before. Came across it while searching for patterns...can't wait to get started.

Last year, I think I was one of the very last ones to finish my blanket. :?
But, it was not a problem. And I had a beautiful blanket when I finished! :cloud9:[/quote]

I still haven't finished last years CAL!!! I have all the squares done, I just can't force myself to spend all the time that it is going to take to join them all!

I think there are a LOT of us that don't really enjoy joining. But, maybe we can plan a weekend joining party in here one weekend. We can talk about silly things, and encourage each other that way, posting photos of our achievements and disasters. Let's make it fun! :D

That's a great idea  A JAL may be just the medicine needed for lots of folk by the time we've finished the CAL/KAL :knit: no crochet emoticon :( I love emoticons
This is my very first CAL too :scared: but am looking forward to it really ;) In fact I only found this about 20minutes ago :!:
I have seen mention of CAL's many times but never knew where they were and didn't want to seem  by asking. I need to go check out what yarn I have available now so I can start. I'm in the UK so am unsure what time the first clue will appear for me. Anyone know :helpme: Thanks

I was really surprised, but last year I managed to have each square blocked and joined, and the finished afghan blocked in about a day. I just took a Saturday and did it. It was a really good thing my husband has no problem watching our 3 kids on his own since I doubt I would've finished that part in a day if I had been focusing on them too. Even with the kids though I probably could have finished it in a weekend. It took way less time than I expected, and I had been dreading it too.
