I'm a first timer and can't wait to give this a shot. I've just recently started to teach myself to knit - not easy, lol. I'm an avid crocheter though so will probably doing this up in crochet. Are we able to save the knit instructions though? Maybe, just maybe, I might want to try it, just not right away - I've only been knitting hats and scarves, lol.

All of our Mystery Blanket-Alongs have remained available on the Bernat website for years. I imagine that you'll have plenty of time to make the knitted blanket as well. ;)

This will be my first Bernat CAL, but I have been crocheting for over 30 years and active in online crochet groups for 20 years ... back when I started you had to join a mailing list LOL Then we graduated to yahoo groups and then forums like this. Thanks, Bernat, for hosting a crochet forum and this great CAL! This will not be my first participation in a CAL, but they have all been fun and exciting and always produced an item of beauty! I look forward to getting to know the folks here!

Welcome AnnClaire! :hellogoodbye:
I remember those mailing list groups. I even remember the time before that, when knitting magazines used to do knit-alongs and crochet-alongs, and people would mail in photos of their finished products! Do you remember those?

I STILL haven't finished all the squares from the last one, but I will. Eventually. And really and truly end up with an afghan. :) I have finished a couple of other smaller projects, so now I'm encouraged to jump back into some of the larger ones. I hope I can keep up. I work at home, and I never know what the volume of work will be, so I'll do the best I can. I can hardly wait to get started!

This will be my first time to join a CAL or KAL of any kind. I'm very excited!! I'm worried about my skills though. what if I pick the wrong method just to discover that I am not experienced enough or not well enough schooled in the stitches to pull this off? Guess I'm pretty nervous too! LOL UGH... sigh... :idonno:
Peace and Blessings

Oh...for all of y'all who hate joining things? I'm not sure I should admit it here, but I LOVE sitting there watching my favourite shows on TV and joining the pieces together into a finished project :P
When I did the CAL did 2 blankets. The first one I used the recommended yarn from Bernat and the second one I used yarns from my stash. Both turned out great but did have to watch the size of my squares with the second one because I was using a different weight yarn and brand. Very doable in my opinion just use caution.

For those that think they are not experienced enough the crew at Bernat are so great about helping anyone with problems. They explain things so clearly. If it works like before you will get both written instructions, chart, and picture examples of new stitches. If you go back to the last one you will see how it works.
I had no idea how it worked but jumped in with both feet and it went so smooth. If you have a lot of one square to do they will tell you to do what you can then go on to the next and come back and finish up the ones you haven't completed. Most of the squares on the last one were 2 and 4 squares each but one was a lot. It worked so great and you will have a gorgeous blanket in the end!

Oh my gosh that is so good to hear....because....to be honest I am SUCH a beginner. I've been crocheting for almost two years, and trying anything above EASY frightens and frustrates me. I have to SEE things or be right there with someone in order to understand sometimes. I'm going to try this though....I feel the love.
