finished with CAL clue #2, I really love the pattern, once I got the first one done, the rest of them was easy. Thanks for the diagram that really help.

I agree that the diagram was very helpful--I finally had time to work on clue 2 last evening. I found that the written directions (what I usually use) were very confusing--the actual crochet part was easy.

I have noticed that some of the photos posted for both clues show the back side of the motif. I am wondering if those who are relatively new to crochet are not yet able to recognize the RS of the work. When I first started, I learned that I needed to put a short piece of some other color yarn in a loose knot on the RS of my work--that was after I got a square upside down in an afghan and had to frog the joining.

Today is Mon and I finally put the template together for clue #2. Much to my shock, my motif is only 10", not the 11" specified. This took me by surprise for clue #1 was right on. I now have to frog all 10 and start again. That will teach me - always check the first one after it is made. Have a feeling I will not have 10 remade by Wed! And I was doing so well! Oh well.

Now, if they will block to 11 inches, you won't need to re-do them.
Have you tried blocking them?

There aren't 10 to be made either - just six. Four in your A and two in your main color. Don't do more than you have to!

LOL! Yes, 6 are all that is needed, 10 from orig. Sorry for the typo on that. But, I will have to redo the six. Thanks for the sugg of blocking to size but that is just too big a stretch. Did go up one size (I) and that was 1/2" too short, am now working with a J.
Am finding this strange as to why the first 10 were okay and now there is a problem. Could it be the pattern, I tighten up when using various stitches? Also, based on what I found, at least on this project, going up one hook size only added 1/2". Since I am more a knitter than crocheter, is this kind of a general rule of thumb?
Am going to be busy today! Love the pattern and love doing it, is not boring!

A lot of people are finding they need to look at the chart for clue 2, or to copy the directions into a different file and split them up a bit. Which part of those rows do you seem to be having issues with. Maybe someone has had the same problems and can help you.

I read some posts that people were using markers for the ch2 space in row 5 in order to make row 6 work. Maybe give that a try?

Am finding I really have a problem and it may be with my hooks. An H hook produced a motif 1" short. An I hook produced one that was 1/2 " short. Thus figured a J would do it.
It turned out that the J hook motif came out the exact size of the H hook motif.
Is it possible that not all crochet hooks are created equal or is it due to whatever I am doing?
Am now going to try a K hook and this time check size after the 3rd round.
