Bernat Ruffle Edge Blanket using baby jacquards

Postby YorkshireLass » Mon Jun 25, 2012 8:07 pm

Hi

I have a free Bernat pattern for the ruffle edge baby blanket using baby jacquard floral yarn. On reading the instructions beforehand, I am a little puzzled about knitting the border. The directions say that the Box Stitch Pattern is to be worked using solid colours, and the stocking stitch is to be worked using printed jacquard section of yarn. How do I separate the solid section of wool from the printed section in the ball? The pattern only calls for the baby jacquard and no other solid colour wools.

This yarn is made up of different sections that give it a pattern when made into fabric. The patterned section has lots of dot and dashes (so it seems) along the length, and when you get to the solid section you know you are on solid.

Could the pattern be telling you to determine yourself when to switch the stitch you are making? As, when you get to the solids start the box stitch and when you get the the patterned section of yarn start the stockinette stitch? I haven't made this myself, sorry I can't be of more help. But I love the Jacquard yarn!! It is so cool seeing the pattern emerge

The border is knit with the yarn straight from the ball. No need to separate colors.

The body of the blanket is where you need to watch for the color changes on your yarn.
