HUGE Skein of Fingering Weight Wool

Postby Shandeh » Wed Jan 30, 2013 3:00 pm

Some of you already know that I am a yarn hoarder. You can see all of it on my Ravelry stash page.
The other day, I was organizing my stash, and came across a box of yarn I bought on eBay several years ago. It was 5 pounds of fingering weight wool yarn - all together in one skein.

I had never taken it out of the box before - just left the box sitting in my craft room.

This week, I decided to take it out, and see how big it was.

OMG!!!

80 ounces, mmmm: a lot of socks, bed spread ? Wonder how far it would reach if it was all stretched out? Who will hold it while you wind it into a ball ? Big ball for kitty to play with. Endless possibilities.

Part of me wants to use it as a fiber display at my local cultural arts center, but I'm sure it would be damaged by everyone touching it. Maybe I will wind enough balls for a reasonable amount, and then use the rest of it for a display.
