Booties are always a fun, quick project to make. And they can be saved to use for baby shower gifts, or can be given to charity.
To make your baby booties, you will need only one skein of Bernat Softee Baby yarn.
You will be able to make up to 12 sets of baby booties with this one skein!
You will also need a size G (4 mm) crochet hook.
The booties are constructed from the sole of the foot, eventually going from the center back, around the foot to the center back again. Then, they are seamed together down the back and through the center of the sole. Next, the strap is crocheted, then attached to the top of the bootie.
This means that we will need a good yarn needle for seaming. I really like the Chibi Tapestry Needle set, which contains two different sized yarn needles. The little tube stores the needles, and is easy to find in your tote bag. I have two of them - one in my bag, and another by my knit/crochet chair in my craft room.
When the booties are complete, you will need two buttons for latching the booties closed at the strap.
(Wait until your booties are finished before purchasing the buttons, so you can make sure they are not too small or too large for the buttonholes.)
In addition to learning how to seam, we will be learning to crochet in the back loops, work a dc3tog, and a dc5tog.
