Unseamly Seams

Postby Kayro » Wed Jan 16, 2013 11:47 pm

I've been knitting baby hats for a while now and still consider myself as in the "learning" stage.
I use straight needles because the hats are so small and then stitch them up when finished. Question...what is
the best way to join those sides? Sometimes mine looks really good and then there are the "other" times (you can see this in your mind's eye).

I've thought about DNs but I like the straight needles better, I just don't like my sewing at the end.
Thanks,
Kayro

Working in the round with dpns would be a great skill to learn, especially with baby hats.

But, for now, if you want to knit straight, and do seaming, you have a few different options.
You can do a simple whipstitch seam, or a mattress seam, or you can try other different seams to find what you like best.

Here's a video I made of the whipstitch seam, when I was finishing up some baby booties.
