knitting abbreviations

been knitting and crocheting for yrs...have bernat knitted aran hat pattern and the abbreviations pages...the pattern shows C2L and C2R???? it also has C2F...at first, i thought it was cable front and cable back, but the C2F which i believe is cable 2 front confused me....hope someone can help...thanx.....rubin

It is cross 2 left and cross 2 right. Check knittinghelp.com. (if I am allowed to say that here)


C2L: cross 2 stitches to the left (to work a cable).
slip 2 stitches p-wise onto a cable needle, let cable needle hang in front of work as you knit the next couple of stiches; then knit stitches off of cable needle.

C2R: cross 2 stitches to the right (to work a cable).
slip 2 stitches p-wise onto a cable needle, let cable needle hang in back of work as you knit the next couple of stiches; then knit stitches off of cable needle.
