Baby coordinates chunky-blanket

Postby JennieMom72 » Thu Mar 08, 2012 1:28 pm

Hello, My name is Jennie and I have been trying for days now to knit the baby coordinates chunky-blanket. I am having such a hard time. I am a new knitter, have been doing scarfs and slippers for about a year now. I have counted my cast ons, and I knit the first row, then when it comes to the second row, the first time it ends right. but when I continue, I always have more on the last section. I count all the patterns, marking them with markers and there should be 15 stitches in each section of 10, and on the second time around i have more. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I have started over at least 5 times really concentrating and making sure I have the correct stitch count. I am hoping that someone out there can help? I would love to make this blanket, but I don't know what I am doing wrong. Thanks a bunch! :O)

Double check at the beginning of your row that the ball end is not looped on your needle causing an extra stitch? If you counted your stitches before starting a row you should in theory end up with the right amount of stitches at the end of the row. Yes, takes time, but less if you end up being on mark cuz of it. Try using stitch counters every 5-10 stitches to help count faster.

Yeah, you're probably doing an extra yarn over.
Or, you could be forgetting to pass a stitch over.

Just take your time, and really concentrate on that 2nd row. :reading:

I applaud you for diving into lace knitting with 150 stitches on each row! :bravo:
