Music to Knit and Crochet By.....

If you feel like talking about something that isn't knit- or crochet-related, feel free to do so here.

Ooo yeah! We would have fun playing in our own rock band! Maybe we could call ourselves "Yarnheads". :D That's cool about your guy being a guitarist. :cooldude:

I have a very long way to go, though. I can't even make my fingers play a C chord yet. I'm okay with D, A, E, and G though. I can't switch between them very well, though. But, I'm not giving up!

My guitar is a copy of a Strat. It's a Hondo H7600b. When I got it, it was covered with stickers. So, I spent some time cleaning those off with Goo Gone and an old credit card. It looks good now!

Thanks for the encouragement! The guy at Guitar Center was encouraging too, when he heard that I play piano and organ. He said this should be easier in comparison. We will have to see about that.

Shandeh, I agree with the guy @ GC. I personally think that keyboards are probably more challenging to play than say, woodwinds (I played clarinet and alto clarinet in school, found them very easy.) When I picked up bass for first time, it felt very foreign. My main problem is muting those big strings. I think that since you are already extremely proficient on keys, you will take to your guitar like a duck to water. I really mean that.

I just added ANOTHER instrument to my home. I found a flute at a thrift shop for 20 bucks. :)

It seems to work well, but I'm not a flautist. I will take it to church tomorrow, and let a friend take a look at it for me.

Yesterday, we had our annual Spring Piano Recital for my piano students. Only 8 of them could make it, but they all did a wonderful job! One of them didn't want to be in the photo, because she just started lessons a couple weeks ago.

Here's the food we had at the reception.

Wow, Shandeh, congratulations! :bravo: What a beautiful picture of you and your students! And the refreshment table is pretty too! (That lime punch is cool!) Did you have the recital at your church? It looks like a gorgeous historical church. :cloud9:

Yes! The recital was at my church. It's a lovely sanctuary that works so well for the event. The piano is well taken care of by an in-house tuner who sings in the choir. And yes, the architecture is classic and historical. The church itself was founded just over 50 years ago, so it's not that old. And the congregation is going through a transition right now. I have been the organist for 10 years now, and have been the music director as well for the past 8 months.

The reception was very relaxing, and the food was tasty. I make that green punch every time. It's lime sherbet, orange juice, pineapple juice, and Sprite. Yum! I also provided trays of ChickFilA nuggets. My students brought chips, crackers, cheese, veggies, dip, and pound cake. I'm looking forward to our next recital now!

It seems that music has a very strong tie to "Yarners". My family is musical and I'm so proud of
my grandson, Gabriel. He is 12 and started last year on the trumpet and has now moved to french horn,
which is what my sister and I both played in school. He is attempting to teach me the trumpet and wants to
become a high school band director for his career.
It's never dull in this house, always filled with music (and therefore, laughter, at my expense) and lots of
love.
PipeDreams is one of my favorites to listen to on the radio and NPR is my "go-to" station.

Wow, Shandeh, you are such a renaissance woman! I can just taste that green punch, too! (And even though I'm veg, I salute you on your nugget choice! ;) )
