If you feel like talking about something that isn't knit- or crochet-related, feel free to do so here.

101 uses for a crochet hook (besides crocheting)

If you are a crochet nut like me you probably have crochet hooks all over the house and have found that they come in handy for other things besides crocheting.
Here are some of the handy ways I have used a crochet hook over the years:

As an emergency cable needle when knitting my Bernat chunky cable blanket. :)
To unplug the bathtub drain. Each bathroom in our house has a hook designated for this purpose
As a hairdressing tool, pulling strands of hair out of a cap for highlights.
To fix dropped stitches in knitting or for fixing a hole.
To help untie a tight knot.
To hide a snag in fabric.
To help turn a sewed tube of fabric inside out.
As a bookmark!
As an aul.

lmao
other than the tub one I think I have used all of these and never even thought of it as using my hook! I just grab what I think will work without thinking (oxymoron anyone?)
Oh our poor hooks!
you can use one as a stir stick if nothing else is around!

Yes you can! I always think I'm lucky to be a crocheter when I use my hook, almost smug-like as if being a crocheter has premium advantages! :crown:

cuticle pusher
under-the-nail cleaner
stuffing compactor - you know, when stuffing a crocheted toys arm, how else are we supposed to get the stuffing inside?
instead of threading a needle I will use a smaller hook to weave in my ends to get it out of my way till I can get to a needle.
Or on above theme, when making one sided closed items (toys), I use it to pull the end through to the wrong side
