What we mean with marking our right side is this:

When we do a row that has an increase in it, we place a safety pin or locking stitch marker on that side of the fabric.

Whenever we start a new row, and we see the marker facing us, we know it's time to do an increase row.

When the marker is on the other side of the fabric, we just do a row of all knit stitches.

This way, all we have to do is count the stitches, and we will know how far we have gone in the pattern.

:hrmm: Can't seem to get my knitting badge, I'll have to figure it out later. Now I'm off to knit a bit, have a coffee and snack then go for a run.

Starrynight, I noticed you doing an increase in the last stitch. the pattern calls for an increase in the 2nd to last stitch. Your numbers will be right but in the end your square may appear a little different.

I haven't read that book, but i did read a book last summer where a bunch of people were making a sampler scarf. The book had a pattern at the front and I knitted the scarf while reading the book! I have enjoyed knitting and crocheting all my life, but it's ten times the fun when you can share it with others. :cloud9:

I am a big reader and love mysteries. My friend at work suggested this book, its a bit light....one of those "cozy" types....but is a quick read, and as I said got me hooked on the idea of doing a knitting circle and doing this mystery knit-along. I have completed one square and am almost finished the second. Its gonna be fun! Where in Canada are you?? I live just outside Ottawa in a small country town.

I got started late as well. This is my first blanket also. I hope to catch up at some point before the end. I have a little question. It may sound silly but does anyone know if I did a clue one square starting with color 2 instead of color 1 will it mess up the final design? I finished my first square and started the next one with the yarn in my hand without thinking about it. It doesn't seem to be a huge difference but I thought I had better check.
