YEAH!!! Clues 1 and 2 complete, wrists and elbows get a few days break. Not looking so "angelic", but for my first afghan, I'm not complaining too loud, actually feeling rather accomplished... Come on Wednesday - Bring it on!!!

Re: How many rows ?

Postby labrige » Sun Feb 26, 2012 3:52 am

I used 70, BUT :idonno: I knit with 6mm, and it's not Bernat yarn :scared:
In fact my yarn is in the same proportion (some practical math on this sunday morning ?
It is the principle of homothety, the "shapes" have the rigth proportions, the same angles, but the lengths may be different ) ....
When you knitted first clue, if your squares were really square, you'll be OK with 70, or 72 (I used one of my squares of clue 1 as template, and I didn't block any )

I noticed that one person only knit 68 rows. So, it really is a personal thing. Just knit until it's as long as the pattern recommends.

Nice!!! Well done! I still haven't finished clue two.... Just spent the night with very little sleep, house is a mess, but I am going to treat myself to a couple of hours of knitting and crocheting. :inlove:

This is my first afghan, my first KAL and my first "mystery" project - I am so excited to see the final project. Before I started, I checked my gauge and was spot on - however, each of my squares is (almost) exactly 8.5" square. I am just wondering if everyone else has to block their squares to stretch an entire inch or if I should maybe even restart with larger needles. I would appreciate your input! Thanks - and happy knitting!! :hellogoodbye:

Thank you! I'm still in a lot of pain, and really looking forward to that appointment with the endodontist tomorrow morning.

Are you referring to Clue 2? If so, the Shaker Rib Stitch is stretchy, and will be able to stretch out to the correct size. Just be sure that when you stretch it out, that it is still long enough for the template.
