To be honest I am a bit of a yarn snob and acrylic is my least favorite yarn to use, but I do like it for afghans to be used in my home and other items that need to be washed often. Plus...the price usually fits my budget :)

This yarn has been lovely to work with and is very soft for acrylic. Assume it will get even softer after washing.
I am not sure if this is a new yarn or just the Waverly colors are new...but I do know I think I have found my new go to yarn.

Just finished my last square for clue 2. All of my completed squares are roughly the same size. I don't think I am even going to have to block them. So far, the patterns have knit up with so much give they will be easy to seam together.

Re: Knit-Along Clue 2 - Backwards Purl?

Postby karenarp » Tue Feb 28, 2012 4:07 pm

I was watching a bunch of videos, and for the most part they usually are right handed/English style, so I have had to adapt to my left handed/Continental style. I think all my squares and stitches end up looking like everyone else posted, but I am pretty sure I just discovered I am doing some of my stitches back wards! Should I need to worry about trying to correct my stitch in the future or if it looks all right, is it all right?
I think I am pulling my purl stitch in the opposite of what it should be. It is really hard to tell for certain.
Advice anyone?

I've been knitting since I was 6 when my Grandmother taught me, and I've never really though much about different knitting styles. but from the couple of videos I have watched since this KAL started I've noticed that I bring my yarn around the needle in the opposite direction. I don't really see any difference. I think if you are happy with your squares that is the main thing, and I wouldn't worry about it too much. Everyone doesn't knit in the exact same way. The way I look at it is whatever works for you, is what you should do, especially if you don't see a difference.

If I am lucky I should be starting this clue on Wed. when they bring out Clue #3 :) So I am hoping I don't have to much trouble since most of you will be moving on and not here to give advice. I have read everyone else's problems so I hope I can learn from them and I'll just fly thru Clue #3 (i know I'm dreaming) I can't wait to get finished with clue 1 so I can add my signiture and start on clue 2!

I'll be there with you!! I am almost finished with clue #1, too. I was so glad to see your post!! :hellogoodbye:

I finally finished both clues. :bravo: Waiting for #3. In the meantime, I am working on an afghan. I guess I can't put the needles down.

Have now finished the squares for clue 2.
I feel that I am a bit slower than so many others, but at least am getting them done.
Love that stretchy rib stitch, it would make a lovely winter hat.

:hellogoodbye: scoot915,

I washed and dryed my gauge swatches and the yarn does get even softer! It's a great yarn :inlove:
