Is each 'v' equivalent to 2 rows? Normally it is one row, but since we are picking up the stitch below, does that make it 2 rows?
I KNOW I've knit more that 36 rows, but that's how many 'v's I count from top to bottom.

Yes, on the wrong side the 'v' stitches do equal two rows. If you count the 'v' stitches on the right side, you will have actual row count.

The longer, fatter V's are on the RIGHT side of Shaker Rib Stitch. The shorter, neater V's are on the wrong side.

According to the pattern, the rows you knit across are on the right side. This is the side with the "bumpy" ribbing. The rows with the K1B are the wrong side, the longer more even ribbing stitches.

txcatgirl wrote:Shandeh, thank you so much for the tinking video! I watched it once, then I did it with you. I get it now: you have to reknit the k1 below stitches to restore it to the ordinary knit stitch it was on the previous row. Having the crochet hook really helps, too.

So glad the video helped! :D

txcatgirl wrote:Also, loved your Cable Yoke Sweater and want to make it! Does the Bernat Roving break easily? Could that pattern be made with Softee Chunky? Thanks and glad you are feeling better!

Bernat Roving is a loosely-spun yarn, with lots of strands flowing straight beside each other.....similar to wool roving before it is stretched and spun into yarn. So, if you pull very hard on the yarn, it will pull apart. But knitting or crocheting with it will make it into a nice, sturdy fabric. It is thicker than Softee Chunky, so that yarn would not work for the Cable Yoke Sweater. Bernat Roving works up to 12 stitches per inch, and Softee Chunky works up to 15 stitches per inch.

Thanks! :) I had a very busy day today, teaching piano lessons again. Now, I'm worn out, but very happy to be working again. I'm still a little sore from the root canal yesterday, but I'm on the mend! ;)

Well, I didn't think I could do it either. But, I REALLY WANTED to knit that sweater. So, I just dug in and made it happen. I'm glad I did.

Funny! I have learned to pay attention to gauge, because of being plus-sized. It's hard to find nice clothes in my size that I can afford. So, now that I knit, I'm enjoying making things that I KNOW will fit. And Bernat is one of the only yarn companies that always includes instructions all the way up to size 5X! Woo Hoo!

To be honest I am a bit of a yarn snob and acrylic is my least favorite yarn to use, but I do like it for afghans to be used in my home and other items that need to be washed often. Plus...the price usually fits my budget :)

This yarn has been lovely to work with and is very soft for acrylic. Assume it will get even softer after washing.
I am not sure if this is a new yarn or just the Waverly colors are new...but I do know I think I have found my new go to yarn.

So glad you are enjoying the Bernat Waverly yarn! It's a new yarn, and I hope it will stick around for a LONG time. It's a premium acrylic, so that's probably why you are enjoying it.

Great! I still have a LOT of work left to do on my CAL motifs. I'm only knitting one of each square in the KAL, because I'm letting my sister in California do the rest of it. The blanket is for her anyway. :)
