I immediately jumped on the bandwagon for the crochet as I have been doing that since I can remember! I thought the KAL would be a good way to reinforce what I already know and do some new stuff too!

Now here is the question I have when reading the pattern -- "Rep last 2 rows for pat until Block measures 9½" [24.5 cm], ending with a 2nd row of pat." I am having trouble reading this section. I know "pat" means pattern --- but what does it mean to repeat for pattern, and what does it mean to end with a 2nd row of pattern? Or Ending with 2 rows of pattern does that mean 2 rows of knit or 2 rows of the K1below row?! Or simply ending the square with the K1 below row?

Any help for this knitting newbie would be greatly appreciated! :helpme:

It means that you repeat those 2 rows over and over again, until your knitting length is 9 1/2"
When your piece measures to that length, make sure your last row is Row 2. Then, bind off.

Hi, I was just wondering if this square should be the same size as the one from clue 1. Mine seem to be coming out bigger, but i took one ball of yarn to make 4 triangles, am i using too much yarn?!? Or is it how it should be?! :idonno: im a little scared because i do not want to restart, but you must if you must i guess :scared: :-)

All the squares in the KAL should be the same size. They all use the same blocking template.

In the tips part of the clue it says..."The instructions ask you to stretch your work widthwise to measure 9.5” [24 cm] when measuring your final length. This will make sure that you work enough rows to achieve the correct length. Whenever you knit a ‘stretchy’ or ‘ribby’ stitch, you should practice this method for measuring."

What does it mean that we should "practice this method for measuring"? Should we be practicing something before we start our squares? Should we do a test gauge in this stitch??

No. The word "practice" means "use" in this instance.

Thanks Shendah for your quick and helpful reply! I thought the repeat pat. "might" mean that - but I wasn't sure! Now I can confidently go forward with clue 2 -- while also playing catch up with clue 1! Ahhhh!

Is there some reason to use the "cable" cast on or can we use our normal method of casting on?

I am using long tail cast on for my square, and it looks just fine.

I prefer to use the Cable Cast On for the fact that I don't have to guess how much yarn to cast on with.
I don't uusally make enough sts. the 1st try so have to pull them off & add more to the length of yarn...very frustrating.

I've tried the rule of 1 " per sts. but that seems to give me too many ...sigh...haven't found a true technique in long tail C .O .

Hi,
My 1st blocks came out 10 x 10 " so I am wondering how doing this "stretchy " block will be.
I suppose my guage will be the same no matter what the technique i am doing?

I still have 3 more blocks in Clue 1 to finish.
