I started blocking last night, so here's a photo of some of my blocks from Clues 1 & 3!

You may call me "Captain Overkill:" I borrowed my mom's foam squares for blocking, put tape around the outside so I knew where the limits were, measured 9.5" on each side, marked them, put tape down the middle, marked that at 9.5" both ways in the middle, and put tape intersecting going the other way. Then I hand-washed the squares, squeezed the water out with a towel, and pinned each square to its area.

You can see the top two are pinned and the bottom two aren't. I took the needle from the top left and instead used it on one of the shaker rib squares since its sides were pretty wobbly. I don't own an iron, so I'm hoping this does the trick!

Some of the squares might have some size issues, since the purl stitch is included.
Some knitters make their purl stitches bigger than their knit stitches, and this causes a change in the gauge.

Half of this square has purl stitches, and the other half has none. That could explain the difference for some of you.

The difference is only 1/2 inch. Do you think I could fix this in blocking it? Or do you think I should reknit with smaller needle?

from what I read from the pattern it seems like it will be the same on both sides

I apologize.I have a bad habit of skipping over vital pieces of a pattern when reading over :reading: then when I get to that point in the pattern I get thrown off guard because I thought it would go one way and it goes a completely different direction.

May be I'll have to change the sewing clue ....I'm sure you understand : this blanket is for my eldest son, 28, fan of racing cars, F1 and specially of Ferrari !!!

Cool colors! :cooldude:

Is your sister going to do the others again? :D

Yep! I already sent most of the yarn to her, and kept enough of each color to make one square of each clue. I'm going to send the squares to her, and she can use them, or unravel and make them again. She may decide to re-arrange the colors a bit. She lives in California, and I live in North Carolina, so this is a bi-coastal project!

I like that blocking board! You are definitely an organized blocker. I usually set up a table on my back porch, and pin everything on an old cardboard folding mat. (I used to use that mat for laying out sewing patterns) I then put wet towels on all the pieces, and let it dry in the sun.

This is a glance at my setup. I used it for blocking pieces of a sweater, before seaming them.

Blocking won't make your square smaller. Blocking only STRETCHES knits - it won't shrink them.
I would recommend making it again. You could use a smaller needle, or just end your first half a little sooner than the pattern recommends. Just keep measuring it to your template, and stop the first half when your work fills up half the template.

OK, this thing just looks funky... Can I get a close up from someone, please? This doesn't look like any shaker rib I've ever done! Am I doing this right? GAH!!

Turned into a frog today!!! I've been rippin-it rippin-it and rippin-it!!! I just want to cry!!! But, I did it and am starting square three over with a size 7 needle for the first half. Hope that brings it down to the right size.
