I am going to try your pattern, too. Hey, maybe you should apply for a job at Bernat? :)

Yes, when doing the knit stitch, the yarn needs to be in the back.
When you switch to a purl stitch, you need to move the yarn forward.
Then, move the yarn back again when you do the knit stitch.

It's fiddly, but you get used to it after a while.

I'm sorry you're frustrated with this clue. :(
I wish I knew of solutions to offer, but I had no problem getting my motif to the right size, so I didn't need to make any changes to the pattern. The only fixes I know of are the ones mentioned by forum members. That's why I direct forum members to read those posts.

I do know how the blanket will look in the end, so that's why I have recommended that frustrated knitters just use a different pattern from the other clues. As long as their color choices match the missing clue, the blanket should look just as lovely.

I do not consider myself an expert knitter, (I'm a crocheter) but for some reason every square I have made in this KAL has been the right size!! My crocheting on the other hand has needed extra rows, different sized hooks, and I have never undone my work like I have been undoing with this CAL! I was frustrated for about a week, and then I changed my thinking. For one, I can miss a few CAL clues and then get back to them later if I'm worried about the overall look at the end. I can also look at this as a learning curve for dealing with gauge issues,, I have a feeling I will have the skills to make some pretty well fitting knitted and crocheted garments after all this learning! I also have been saying to some of my friends who are behind because they are just learning, "enjoy the process... slow is ok... ". Part of the fun is the "Mystery" but just like that part can be exciting, it can be frustrating for the same reason. It's a mystery and we don't quite know if our colour choices or pattern adaptations are the same as we would pick if we had seen the finished product.

clue #3

Postby mickmar » Thu Mar 15, 2012 5:16 am

this is my first kal and i was very excited about doing it. I am still very much wanting to complete this afgan but must say that I am somewhat disappointed in this square . I have skipped it and gone to #4 to try to catch up. I am hoping that a new #3 clue is given or that the present one is altered

:hellogoodbye: I've read from Shandeh that you can knit any pattern that you want. Just be sure to stay with the colors of yarn that are called for in that Clue. :cloud9:

All done with Clue 3. Well, except that my darn OCD is going to make me redo 4 of them.

:hellogoodbye: Finally finished this Clue. So, I can now use the badge. Using it proudly. Only 3 of Clue 4, then I can use that one. I will probably use them together because it took so long to be able to. Almost finished with blocking the squares I have. :D :cloud9: Now, breakfast and back to :knit: :knit: :knit:

I was really upset with my E color and still don't like it, but I have to order Waverly online because my stores don't carry it so I'm sticking with it. So, I sit down to finish up the squares, I have three done and I realize that I used B and E on this clue. Yep, B and E. Not, C and E. :smashy: So this gives me pause. Do I go ahead and replace color E because I don't like it with the other colors? Or do I frog, and then soldier on with C and E as they stand.

My colors are :
A: Birch White
B: Classic Navy
C: Beautiful Blue
D: Blue Gown
E: Breath of Blue

Turns our C and D look almost identical, or at least I can't tell them apart without the label. Yeah, I flunked color class. LOL
