I'm glad I started this clue a couple days late so I was able to take advantage of everyone's info. No need to frog!

So, I sit down to finish up the squares, I have three done and I realize that I used B and E on this clue. Yep, B and E. Not, C and E. :smashy: So this gives me pause. Do I go ahead and replace color E because I don't like it with the other colors? Or do I frog, and then soldier on with C and E as they stand.

My colors are :
A: Birch White
B: Classic Navy
C: Beautiful Blue
D: Blue Gown
E: Breath of Blue

Turns our C and D look almost identical, or at least I can't tell them apart without the label. Yeah, I flunked color class. LOL

Good morning Katipilrgl! :hellogoodbye:
I was just going back to see posts on Clue 3 this morning as I am redoing all my Clue 3 squares (tension trouble). You've got lots of blue in your blanket. I can see why you don't like the pale blue with the navy, and it's true that the other two middle blues are closer in shade. I don't know if you've gone to see the photos of the week 5 layouts of the quilt that people are posting. From looking at them all week, I feel fairly certain that the 8 squares from Clue 3 are going to be the central focal point of the finished afghan (and why I am painstakingly redoing my squares!). It makes sense because the only time we use colour E is for this clue, and in the colour tutorials the designers advised that colour E should be a complimentary contrast to the 3 middle colours of B, C and D. I don't know what to suggest to you other than perhaps play around with your squares and lay them out to see how the colours are working together (I couldn't really see mine until I took photos from the distance of standing on my couch, with the squares laid out on the floor.). Perhaps consider adding a third colour to your palette (I bet red or yellow would be good with the white and navy - as bright or subdued as you like), and make sure you're happy with your colour combo for Clue 3, especially your choice for colour E (it's only 2 skeins, so not the end of the world if you want to change it). Back to :knit: for me!
P.S. My Clue 3 combo is blue gown (E) with breath of blue (C) and they are working well together.

Finally started this clue yesterday. I've 2 done so far. I don't particularly like the pattern, but its easy to remember so I'm just chugging along. They are a little bigger than clue 1's diagonals, but I'm not gonna frog. If I gotta add borders to the smaller ones, then so be it. It will be much quicker than re-doing entire squares. Call me lazy, but I want this to be fun and not a chore.
Ok, back to :knit: :cloud9:

Aloha K1P1quebec :hellogoodbye:

Oh my! :bravo: If you have E and C for Clue 3 and it is working well then I'm just gonna roll with it for now. If I really don't like it with the navy squares then I can make an adjustment from there.

I'm not a blue girl, but the person I'm going to gift the afgan to when I'm finished has two colors in her entire apartment. White and blue. It is just a little splash of blue. Two pillows in the living room and a quilt she made are all the blue. Oh and a blue vase. LOL so I figured I'd go with all the blues and it would be a safe bet. Just another one of those opportunities to learn by doing I suppose

Time to get back to it :knit: :knit: :knit:

Thanks for the words of encouragement and advice!!

Correction!

We've provided everybody with a new PDF and plain text version of clue 3, which has been corrected to allow for the issues everybody's been having. When you go to download it, just make sure to clear your cache and refresh the page in your browser so you have the newest version!

I very much appreciate all you and your team have done for this project. Thank you. Unfortunately I have done 6 of these blocks and I am not in the mood to rip them apart. I am, however, keeping the patterns for another afghan sometime in the future. So again, thank you for the corrections.

Were the corrections to Clue 3 only to correct the size issue? The first half of the first square I made came out a too large, so I just knit tighter on the next one and the squares came out ok...so I am good? right? :idonno:

That's exactly what it's for - the first half should now measure 9.5"

I'm really glad that the pattern was finally corrected for those who are knitting behind the rest of us that were having a heck of a time getting the same gauge with Clue 3. The correction is similar to what I wound up doing except I stopped at 49 stitches and increased 4 stitches to bring it back to 53 for the second half. The correction is waaaay late for me but I'm happy that other knitters will have the solution. :)

Oh dear....now that I am on the 7th of the 8 blocks (with 4 extra first attempts that really don't work). I could have used this about 10 days ago! :tears: I will have done 12 of this clue by the time I'm finished, but I'm very glad to see something has been done for future knitters. I have noticed that I need to put it down when my hands and wrists are tired - otherwise the tension gets too loose again as I begin compensating for the cramp in the hand from trying to work tighter on smaller needles.
