Knit-Along Clue 3 (3/20/2012: Corrected!)

I notice in one picture someone is using circular needles and in another single needles. Which is better? I have both but if there is something that works better, I'll try it. Clue one and two I have used the single needles. Suggestions?
I am a strong beginner knitter. Maybe not that strong since I only have 2 of Clue One, 3 of Clue Two.

Some people use circular needles for EVERYTHING. It's just a matter of personal preference.

!!!! When do we get to use our main color!?!? My contrasts are not my fave colors but i am in love with my main. Seems like all i am using so far are 3 contrasts

Yeah, all we've done so far has been the "extra" colors. But, we will bring on that main color soon.

I am waiting for my A color (black) !!!
I've just crocheted one block for clue 3, and now I'll knit one block. If my estimations are correct, the E color 'll be only for this clue 3 (not quite sure, but ... ) ! and the clues 4, 5, etc will use only A ???

If my information is correct, we'll be using color A next week!

In beginning to knit the second half of clue #3, I notice that in the first half all the knit rows are done on the right side and in the second half the knit rows will be the wrong side. Won't this make the second half look different? Or, is that the plan? Thanks for your help.

the original post in this thread does state that each half of the square will be different this week, and with the 2 knit rows at the color change, your knit rows being on alternate sides sounds correct.

Yes, the two sides are completely different in this clue.

Thank you all for such quick replies regarding which needles to use. This is such a great group! I could spend the entire day on this site but knitting calls!

I have just one more thing to add in regard to straight verses circular needles. I now always use circular needles because when I used straight needles I found I waisted too much time looking for one needle that got misplaced or fell between the couch cushions. This can't happen with circular!

i'm not done yet, but it's looking like my clue 3 square is going to be about a 1/2" bigger than my other squares. is anyone else having this issue?

This made me laugh. I feel the same way. I use circulars for almost everything but not too long ago I used straights for something and think I spent more time looking for the second needle than knitting.
