I think I am having the same issue. I have 43 stitches and the length of it is the same as my others for Clue 1. I don't know whether I should continue knitting or just switch over to my other color. I am hemming and hawing over it. I don't want to rip it all out! ugh.
My first side also came out bigger. I hope it's a small enough difference that I can fit it in. Will wait 'til later to decide if I'll re-do. I am switching to smaller kneedles for the first half of the next square.

I have only finished one square of clue one so I have the option of switching my choices for Contrast B & C.
They are all Waverly Yarns: Classic Navy (Contrast A), Greek Sea (B or C), Black (B or C), Beautiful Blue (Contrast D), Incense Red (Contrast E).
I personally don't like the mix of Greek Sea and Incense Red, but my Mom says it looks good, whereas she doesn't like the mix of Greek Sea and Beautiful Blue....thought I should get some other opinions. It is a gift for a little boy so I am not too sure he will care
Though I am thinking that it would be better to use the black in the plainer clue 1 than in the pattern for clue 3...
