Just take your time, and enjoy the KAL. No rush, my friend. Your blanket will be made when it is made.

Just about through with my first clue 4. I have a dusty green and a dark brown. I was beginning
to think that the brown was too dark a contrast, but I think I'm going to like it. I've begun blocking a
few pieces, it's not near as much fun as knitting.

Thanks, Bernat, for another KAL, I learned SO much on the first one, who thought I could cable !!
What a great gift for my daughter, I know she'll be pleased.

This is my first BIG project knitting and wow, all of you fast knitters!!

So far I still only have 1 square of Clue 1 made and working on my 2nd. I did a yarn change after my local craft store had the Waverly on clearance. I had only worked 1 and 1/2 squares with the yarn from my stash. At that point I was on my 5th try to get the second half done correctly and not longer than the first half, I have a real tension issue, it's either so tight I can't get it off the needles or so loose it is sloppy. I'm really trying hard to be better.

:scared: I am a bit intimidated with clue 2 & 3 (now clue 4 too) and with other things going on haven't done much knitting the past 2 weeks. Will try to finish the clue 1 that is almost finished and start clue 2 tomorrow. I am even behind on my crocheting and I do that pretty fast.

I have dark grey for the first part of this clue, and black for the second .... and the contrast is increased by the ribs : vertical for the first half, and horizontal with the garter of the second half, and I found this first square

For the differences in the sizes, they are minimal : maybe the first part of clue 3 (and 4) are a bit larger and too soft, (I should have knitted with 5,5 instead of 6, just like I usually do for ribs on sweaters) but after sewing it'll be nice
If not  , I'll embroider a motive in order to maintain the square in reasonable proportions !!!

This KAL will give a warm and soft afghan, and I know my son will appreciate the texture of the ribs and garter .... and I can see how he'll caress on fingertips this afghan before sleeping :cloud9: , just as he did when he was young with the corners of his pillows

Only 3 more for this clue 4, and 2 for clue 3 :knit: :knit: :knit: :knit:

I did some quick math on this and if we assemble the squares 4 wide by 6 long, we have 7" less in the width and 2" less in the length than the finished measurements. So....something to add to the width maybe? Like long panels between squares??? Or maybe the squares will be positioned as diamonds and we knit triangles between?

Hmm... :hrmm:

Isn't it FUN trying to figure out how they will all work together? :D  :D

I love a good mystery, Shandeh...that's what makes this so much fun!

I haven't started clue 4 yet, but from reading the posts I think I will really appreciate the time Trudi took to list the number of stitches that should be on rows 9 & 11. Thank you Trudi! This is my first KAL. I didn't know there was such a thing until someone on Knitting Paradise asked if any of us were going to do this one. Whoever you are, I'm glad you asked. The mystery and the speculation are such fun.

I am just jumping around and doing a square here a square there -- knitting at my usual snail pace! :knit:

The specific question I have for this clue is I am experiencing is a loose open weave --- am I on the right track or do I need to tighten up?! :helpme:

I love a good mystery, but I fell behind in the Kal clues, I must be slower than I expected, I know there is no rush and according to last year Cal I know I will have time enough towards the end to finish all clues. So now trying to catch up I should be knitting instead of chatting :D :knit: :knit: :knit:

You are so welcome! Sometimes it is nice to know what others do to help them ---- my method isn't for everyone, but so glad that it might work for you!
Have a great day!

I just love Clue 4! It is soft and squishy and not too difficult now that I have worked a bit with the precious clues. :knit: :knit: :knit:
